Just as I thought my master shot me, he didn't. It wasn't a gun! Fido jumped through the window, broke the glass, which shattered on the ground. Fido barked, jumped around and growled at my master to stop. "Fido. No. Let him kill me. I have got mad." I said to him, trying hard not to cry. Fido barked to me, "There's a cure for rabies!" My ears went up and I wagged my tail. A car pulled up outside, and a vet got out. "I brought her here." Fido told me proudly. The vet came in and quickly told my master in human language that there is a cure for rabies. Shocked that he almost killed me, my master put the gun down and sat on the couch, afraid him might faint. The vet quickly slipped a muzzle on my face and a leash over my neck. She pulled me close and injected soething into my shoulder. I grimaced in pain as she stuck the long, pointy needle into my skin. Fido sat by my side the whole time. He nuzzled my neck and licked me affectionately. "Goldie, and Cody? Where are they?" I weakly asked him. "They're in the kitchen... they took the easy way to get in the house. I wanted the extra cool way, right through the window!" He answered, then chuckled and wagged his tail. I grinned at him and with peace in my body, I lied down. My anger and madness was gone, and the old Buddy filled my body again. "We also met someone along the way..." Fido began, but was interupted when a dog walked into the room. It was a beautiul terrier, her fur as yellow as the sun, and her eyes like jewels. I wagged my tail in anticipation, and as Fido saw this he raised his eyebrows at me and gave me a look, if you know what I mean. I walked over to her and sniffed her as she sniffed me back. "My name is Gracie." she said a sweet, calming voice. "You have a beautiful name... uh, what I meant to say, was my name is Buddy!" I said, embarrased. As the humans left the room, Fido gave me that look again, and trotted after my master and the vet. Me and Gracie looked at eachother lovingly. I licked her nose and she nuzzled my neck. I then pranced into the kitchen and gave my welcome nuzzles to Cody and Goldie.

3 months later, I went up to Fido, Goldie and Cody. Grinning, I said "Guess what? I'm gonna be a father. And you guys are going to be uncles!"
Fido howled with laughter and said, "So, you like Gracie... that way?" in a joking tone. I rolled my eyes and playful nipped his ear, which sooned into a game of tag, even for Goldie.

It was a beautiful day, peacful and quiet. My adventures of the past were certainly not forgotten, but my new life was begininng to unfold. Gracie was becoming more and more grumpy, being pregnant and all. She claims that the pains and kicks from the pups make her want to "Rip her ears out of her head".... I'm certainly glad that I was on her good side! So, outside on a warm summer day, I lay in the sun with my good old friend, Goldie. Me and Goldie, being quite old, didn't have much action anymore. I was 10 years old, and he was 8 years old. As my eyes began to close, I heard a scream from my master! I jumped up, energy flowing through my body as I raced towards the kitchen. Master was throwing water on a growing fire over the stove! Panic overtook everyone, and it seemed everyone was running around screaming and howling. Gracie sat in the doorway, rolling her eyes. "Girls have to do everything..." I heard her grumble as she grabbed a fire estinguisher and pushed it to my master. He snatched it up and pushed down on the handle. Nothing happened. Gracie then nudged the phone and whined at our owner. Relieved of having to make decisions, he ran to the phone and called 911. They said they were on their way! Suddenly the fire caught on to a dish towel, which then dropped to the floor, which caught onto the rug. "C'mon!" My master yelled as he ran outside. We watched as the house went up in flames, when the fire truck arrived. It hosed the house with water, to no avail. Suddenly the 2nd floor crunched, and came falling down, crushing the 1st floor. I looked up at my owner. Tears in his eyes, he weeped. Everyone was silent, not even the firefighters said anything as they tried attempts to put out the fire. Luckily, grey clouds formed and it started to rain. The fire slowly demolished; the firefighters said a few words to my master, then drove away. As rain fell and got us wet, master didn't move. He stand there, staring at his house. Or, what was his house. It could not be repaired. Master did not have the money to buy a new house, this I knew for sure. Slowly, my owner walked away towards his car. The other animals followed, but I sat in the yard, staring up at our house. How are we going to survive, with the puppies and all? My masters face suddenly turned from sadness, to anger. "Go away, you stupid dogs! And you too, you stupid rooster!" he yelled at us, then slammed his door to his car and drove away, driving very fast. Sitting together, me, Cody, Fido, Gracie and Goldie sat in a line. What was a old terrier mix, a german shepherd, a hunting dog, a pregnant terrier and a old rooster to do?

"Buddy?" I heard as I zoned out in my head...
Master didn't want me anymore. What purpose did I have if it wasn't for my owner? My friends... sure... but master had always been there. Always. And now he rejected me.
"Buddy, i'm sure he didn't mean it... he was just frustrated because of his house. He'll come back! He'll come back...." Fido said, but I noticed the last part of his statement was more of a question than a fact. "Guys. He ain't coming back. He meant what he said... when a human doesn't have any money left to feed himself, nevermind a dog, not to mention 3 dogs and puppys, and a rooster.... nope, it ain't gonna happen. We gotta move on." Goldie lectured me. I knew he was right, but I don't think Fido, Cody or Gracie believed him. We argued over whether to stay here and wait or search for shelter and food, until Goldie let out a squawk, "ALRIGHT! Since this is going no place, I suggest we compromise a deal. We'll stay here for 3 days, if the human does not come back within that amount of time, we move on. All in favor, say I." Everyone said "I" but me... so I finally mumbled "I". So, we all camped out under the porch and were given jobs by Cody. "Fido and Buddy, you are the hunters. Gracie, you are in charge of keeping the camp, and yourself, safe. Goldie and I will be in charge of finding nests and bedding for sleeping. MOVE! OUT!" He ordered! Scrambling to go do our jobs, we ran off in different directions, bumping into eachother. Suddenly, a car pulled up in the driveway. On the side, it said "ANIMAL CONTROL"!
