"The day my world turned upside down" story

I want it to continue!

Alrighty, here's the next chapter. (I think this book will be never ending, LOL!)

A tragic message came from Goldies old flock. When me and Goldie were lying at the fire on a cold, snowy day, we heard a sound at the door. Master wasn’t home, so we played “Bark like there’s no tomorrow”! Fun! Goldie squawked from the back, “Whats all the racket!?” “Just having a lil fun!” I barked to him. Suddenly master’s car pulled up. He jumped out and ran to the door and picked up something. He carried it inside and sat on the couch as he opened his cupped hands. For once, me and Fido were quiet. A little sad face poked out, it had fuzz on its face and cute little feathers. “A chick!” My master murmured. It let out a pathetic, sad squeak that was meant to be a cluck. “Tell me what you know, little chick! Whats the problem?” I demanded. I wasn’t that kind because if the chick died, we would never know what it wanted us to know! The chick let out a few squeaks and said, “I am from Goldie’s flock. A disease has taken many of our hens. There are only 20 hens left, 1 rooster and 4 chicks. They are all cold and hungry, and the disease is in many of them… including me.”
“Why did they send a chick to tell the message?” I asked. “They didn’t. My mother and set out together to tell you, but the disease made her so sick, I had to leave her in the snow.” The chick clucked sadly. Me and Fido looked at eachother in shock, then back at the chick. My owner put the chick on the couch and ran into the kitchen, he started to get a warm water bottle for the chick… when suddenly, darkness filled the house.

Us, as dogs, we could see in the dark, so the lights going out did not matter. Chicks, cannot see in the dark. “WHERE”D THE LIGHT GO!?” the chick clucked frantically! “Relax! The power went out.” I assured her. “Well, that chick is gonna die if we don’t get it to the vet quickly.” My master said as he walked back into the room carrying a flashlight. He went outside to get the car started, when suddenly I heard him yell in pain. “Master!” I barked, worried. I looked out the window and saw my owner lying on the ground on a sheet of ice he must of tripped on. Fido moaned and said “Humans are so clumsy.” I shushed him with a bare of my teeth. The door was closed, the windows were closed. They was no way I could get to my master! I had to save him… if I didn’t, he would freeze to death on the ice, and the chick would die as well. Seeing no other way, I told Fido and the chick to back off the couch. They did as I told them and with one kick of my legs, I broke right through the glass on the window! I landed outside in a pile of snow and quickly jumped up and ran to my master. He was unconscious. I knew what I had to do. I ran in the back of the house and got out the sled and covered it with a rug. I looked over and saw Goldie and all the hens snuggled inside the chicken coop. Goldie jumped up and ran to me. “Whats up?” he asked. I told him everything that happened. “I’m coming with you!” he declared. So I pulled him on the sled to the front and saw that fido was carrying a blanket in his mouth. “The chick’s inside.” He mumbled through the blanket. So, me, goldie and fido got my owner up on the sled, put the chick at his side and covered them both up with a blanket. Me and Fido grabbed the rope and started to pull. Goldie sat on Masters lap, keeping him warm. As we approached the road, I heard a sound close by. Coyotes. They were coming.

My ears perked, my eyes studied every bush that moved. The howls came again, closer this time. “They’ll kill my owner. They’ll kill the chick with one bite. They’ll kill Goldie and Fido. I don’t care if they kill me. I just want my friends to be okay… I don’t matter. I’m just a dog. A useless dog. If they attack us, I’ll fight till my innards come flowing out of me.” I thought to myself. I started to trot, and Fido did too. The sled hit bumps that made loud crunching noises. “We have to stop. If we hide until they come, we will make a surprise attack. On the road, we are vulnerable.” I said to my friends. So we pulled over to a bush covered in a snow. I dug a cave and dragged the sled in. It soon became warm in there from all the body heat. Me, Fido and Goldie waited. We waited in the bush, ears perked, eyes scanning everything, not moving a muscle. Then…. They were there. It seemed as if they had magically appeared. 9….10…11 …12 of them. Most were underweight… a poor excuse for a coyote. Others had fur and muscles, and teeth that hung out of their mouths. One had a scar that crossed right over his left eye. They spread throughtout the road, 4 on the left side, 4 on the right and 4 in the middle. They were approaching our bush. Surely they would smell us. I looked at Fido and Goldie with eyes that said “I love you, I wish you luck in this battle.” They nodded their heads and slowly… we approached the coyotes. I gave the signal…. I growled. All at once, all 3 of us jumped out at the nearest coyote and tackled him. Goldie sorta was like a distraction, running here and there, squawking. Me and Fido fought. The first 2 coyotes died quickly because of our surprise attack, but there was 10 left. I tackled one and bit his neck, when one coyote started gnawing on my back. I looked over and saw Fido pinned to the ground by 3 coyotes, his ears torn off and his back being ripped up. I had know idea I looked like him as well. Memorys came back from when hatred filled my eyes when I saw Jimmy and Mark. The same hatred filled my entire body and gave me a new strength. I pushed the coyote off my back and darted over to save Fido, but all at once, a coyote barked “Freeze!” I looked at the coyote who had said that…. And he had Goldie clamped between his jaws.

My heart almost gave out. That one second it took me to look at Goldie, I was pinned to the ground by 3 coyotes. All the coyotes stopped and looked at the Alpha dog… which was the coyote holding Goldie. Goldie layed motionless in his teeth. “Goldie!” I barked frantically, but when I did, a coyote bit my ear and growled “Shut up!” I lay there. I had failed. My master is going to die, and so is the chick. Fido and Goldie are going to die and I was too. I was a useless, unhelpful dog. Suddenly… a miracle happened. You heard nothing, until they appeared. A mob… maybe 40 cats all appeared in the snowy blizzard in the road. And in front, was the cat I brought to the vets! “I would suggest that you let them go!” she hissed at the coyotes. “In your dreams, you lowdown, filthy….” The alpha began but was interrupted when all the cats charged forward! It was a sight to see. Atleast 5 cats on each coyote. Some of the weaker coyotes ran away, and soon, the stronger followed, even the alpha dog. I tried to get up, but I was too weak… and within seconds… I passed out.
