Whats going on? Gracie asked sleepily, for she had just waked up when she head me clawing at the door frantically. It wont open! I whimpered. Look out the window, maybe snow is blocking it or something! she said, starting to panic! I looked out the window and gasped. Theres a dog blocking the doorway! It looks really sick! I barked, alarmed. Gracie jumped to her feet, the 2 puppies tumbling away, whining. Goldie was now awake, and comforted the pups. With me and Gracie together, we pushed the door open far enough so that I could get out. The dog was breathing, but covered in snow. I pulled it away from the doorway, and Gracie pushed the door all the way open, making the shed very cold. Shut the door! The pups are getting cold! Goldie clucked from inside. I dragged the dog in and Gracie shut the door so that it was open only a crack. We stared at the dog for a moment. It looked like a greyhound mix, young but extremely thin. Gracie peeked at her belly. Its a girl. She told me quietly. I examined her more thoroughly. She had a long muzzle with black whiskers, a long tail, long legs and small paws, and her body had a small layer of fur, kinda of like Buddys fur. She started to warm up, and slowly, she woke up. As she opened her soft, brown eyes, fear filled her. She jumped up and ran to a corner, as far away from us as possible. She said nothing, but bared her teeth defensively. Gracie stood in front of Goldie and her puppies protectively, in case this dog was a threat. I calmly said, Friend, we saw you outside the door and pulled you inside. You are very sick, and we only mean to help you. She still remained silent and looked around, first as the puppies and the rooster, then me and Gracie, then the chicken coop itself. I knew it was a lot to take in, so I lied down submissively and watched her out of the corner of my eye. I hoped that if I lied down, it would calm her enough to speak. Gracie did the same and nursed her babies. Finally the greyhound let out a squeak and said, I
I
mean not to bother you, but I

do you happen to have any food? Yes indeed! But first, let me introduce ourselves. I am Fido, that is Gracie, and Goldie the chicken. The pups were just born and do not have names. I said to her politely. She nodded her head, then slowly said, Your friend
I have heard of you. You dogs and chicken have traveled far and beyond, and I heard of your fight with the wolves
I would like to tell you that Buddy is not dead.
