Just so you guys know... sadly, its time for this book to come to a end. In the next chapter, Buddy's world may turn upside down forever, but Tucker's story will end happily.

"Fast... speed.... run fast... be quick.... kill.... have no mercy...." I thought to myself as the rabbit hopped closer to me. My ears flattened and my nose sniffed the air excitedly. I waited for the right moment.... the rabbit hopped closer and.... The chase was on! The rabbit was almost as fast as me... almost... I gained on him faster than ever, jumping, barking, swerving... and "SNAP!" went my jaws over the rabbits neck. I finally caught a rabbit... after all my trys, I did it! If only... I had someone to tell and share with. I heard small squeaks come from behind me and I turned around in defense, baring my teeth. Lying in a pile of leaves, a tiny baby rabbit squeaked curiously at me. My ears dropped and a sick feeling came to me. I just killed its mother. "Mommaaa?" It squeaked. My head hung, I walked over to it. I couldn't kill it.. i'm not a true hunter... i'm to soft in the heart. I licked its head affectionately and snuggled next to it. "Its alright.. i'll take care of you. I promise." I whimpered. It started to rain, so I gently picked it up by the loose skin of its neck and trotted to look for shelter. I came to a old, tall pine tree and saw that under its needles was dry. I huddled under it with the baby rabbit, thinking of my family. Suddenly hunger grabbed my stomach and I gasped. I had left my kill in the rain... the mother rabbit. Its probably ruined by now... I peered down at the helpless rabbit snuggled between my paws. Hunger told me to kill it, but my heart said no. I licked my chops and got to my feet and sniffed the baby rabbit.... then, with a quick snap of my jaws, I.....

I closed my mouth and growled at myself, "No! How could you even think of breaking your promise!?" Suddenly, out burst a grown rabbit from the bushes to my left, and out came.... my Dad! Buddy! In pursuit of the rabbit! The rabbit came near me and the baby and when the rabbit spotted *her* baby in the paws of a dog... she ran up to me and bit me right on the snout! "YOWWEEE!!!" I howled as I sprung up, blood gushing from my nose. The mother rabbit guarded her baby, glaring at us. I hadn't killed the mother? I had killed... the father? I let out a sigh of relief and thought, "Yay! Now I don't have to raise the rabbit!" Suddenly a shot rang out through the woods from up in a tree.... "BANG!" Another one, "BANG!" I turned around and as if in slow motion... Buddy fell in a heap to the ground. The mother rabbit fell to the ground as well. Buddy looked at me for the last time and said, "I love you, Tucker. Take care of my family and.... and..... find my master and love him as I loved him." And with those last words.... Buddy's eyes closed and he fell into a everlasting sleep. No words were spoken, no crying either. I pulled my head back and howled in misery. Then I cried... sad... sad crys. My dad was gone... gone for good. I remembered all the stories of his life he used to tell me.
Jimmy and Mark... all the storys of him fighting them off. Dog and chicken fighting rings.... pounds and prisons... joy and defeat.... pain and sorrow... freedom and life. Not to mention all the lives he saved. Buddy had a life no other dog could have.. a life of adventure. But the weird thing is, he always wanted to go home to his master. I will have to complete that job for him.
