I closed my mouth and growled at myself, "No! How could you even think of breaking your promise!?" Suddenly, out burst a grown rabbit from the bushes to my left, and out came.... my Dad! Buddy! In pursuit of the rabbit! The rabbit came near me and the baby and when the rabbit spotted *her* baby in the paws of a dog... she ran up to me and bit me right on the snout! "YOWWEEE!!!" I howled as I sprung up, blood gushing from my nose. The mother rabbit guarded her baby, glaring at us. I hadn't killed the mother? I had killed... the father? I let out a sigh of relief and thought, "Yay! Now I don't have to raise the rabbit!" Suddenly a shot rang out through the woods from up in a tree.... "BANG!" Another one, "BANG!" I turned around and as if in slow motion... Buddy fell in a heap to the ground. The mother rabbit fell to the ground as well. Buddy looked at me for the last time and said, "I love you, Tucker. Take care of my family and.... and..... find my master and love him as I loved him." And with those last words.... Buddy's eyes closed and he fell into a everlasting sleep. No words were spoken, no crying either. I pulled my head back and howled in misery. Then I cried... sad... sad crys. My dad was gone... gone for good. I remembered all the stories of his life he used to tell me.
Jimmy and Mark... all the storys of him fighting them off. Dog and chicken fighting rings.... pounds and prisons... joy and defeat.... pain and sorrow... freedom and life. Not to mention all the lives he saved. Buddy had a life no other dog could have.. a life of adventure. But the weird thing is, he always wanted to go home to his master. I will have to complete that job for him.
