Not broody or not, just close to laying. Because if it were the first then I'd have no idea whatsoever!

Right?! How many weeks do you give it? I'm usually very good with guessing when pullets start to lay, but in this case I'm going cray cray

Yes it is! My rule is pullets close to laying are a very deep pink to red, and hens returning to laying cycle are a deep red, since pink becomes the status quo after the first cycle
