The Duck Thread

So after a horrible incubator hatching season, I think I have an answer! We just bought this house last May. There's a glassed in front room that I keep my bunnies in and plants. It doesn't get used for anything else. So I put my incubator out there, the bunnies said they didn't care! I work during the day and check in the bator a few times a day. After talking to my neighbor, who did the wiring when this place was built, he mentions that the previous owner had a saltwater tank out there. I've had tanks,,, lightbulb! After about 45 minutes of checking, there's a timer hard wired to the outlet I'm using! The freaking thing shuts off at night for 6 hours!!!! Gahhhhhh! Timer removed, and thrown against the wall (small temper tantrum!). So hopefully the last of my eggs will survive.

What an awful experience, but glad you found it when you did.

I wish you the very, very best with the ones you have left.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if the different breeds had different incubation time. Now thats from the day she starts sitting not the day she lays correct?

Yes, the day she starts sitting on them starts the incubation. 24 hours later starts day 1, etc. Should hatch around day 28 if she sits consistently (meaning only leaving the nest for a few minutes each day)

My babies are growing so fast

ADORABLE!!! Its amazing how fast they grow... and change looks!

Air cell at wrong end!?!? Under broody duck! Lots of movement! 1 more week!

That is just freaking unreal! But very good news that you found it and fixed it!! YaY!!

Ok, stable temps this morning. I also plugged night lights into every darned outlet last night and got up twice to make sure all were running... Found another timed outlet! Not one we really use, but really?!?!?
