What do you want them for? Calls are known to be the hardest to hatch and don't have very good hatch rates. In about 2 or 3 weeks I am going to hatch another 24 ducks, but I'm not sure what o should get, I would like to have a range maybe about 6 of 4 different kinds, but I don't really know any breedmaybe some runner ducks, or calls ducks or something but I'm not sure,
Any suggestions?![]()
I was recently given four ducks purchased from tractor supply.
The only feed I had available at the time was starter grower that I was feeding my chickens.
Is this acceptable to use for baby ducks or should I start them on chicken starter?
They seem to be eating the starter/grower (says it if for ducks on the bag) just fine.
Someone I know had their ducks die because tractor supply recommended they feed them medicated feed.
I want them just for pets, maybe for laying as well I will sell most of the eggs but I don't mind, last year I hatched 2 out of 3 calls, they all pipped and we're doing well, but one got stuck and I tried to help it, but it diedWhat do you want them for? Well you pretty much summed it up, if you get hatching eggs it's usually a 50/50 ratio or pretty close to it. with ducklings you can order just what you want.Hey all, I just have a quick, but very important question. So I want to get ducklings, but I'm not sure if I want to order hatching eggs or the ducklings themselves. I like the idea of incubatung them, an I have done it before with one egg, and a makeshift incubator, but I'm worried because then I will have no control over the male to female ratio. I know that if you have too many males per female it can lead to over mating and aggression. So what should I do? Get the eggs or the ducklings?
