The DUMBEST thing I've ever heard somebody say about Chickens...READ!

This are some of the most common misconceptions about back yard chickens that I had to answer to :

"chickens need a rooster to lay eggs"
-"chickens only lay brown eggs, white eggs are bleached, that's why back yard eggs are only brown"
- "chickens are very dumb"

Most people do have a basic understanding of where and how our food is produced, and sometimes you can have highly educated people who will ask some of those questions that for us are so silly. Few "silly questions" are perfectly normal for people who have never had to deal with chickens or domestic birds.
Of course every now and then there will be an exception, where the degree of ignorance is beyond excuse.

Was it "Back at the Barnyard" ?

Something with the word 'Barnyard'. I was like 8 or 9 when the movie came out and I was aghast that the boys had udders!

Cause you know, parents and their overly sheltered kids should not know there there is a difference between bull and a heifer. We went to a reptile place and the man showed us turtles. One boy one girl. I couldn't tell them a part cause I couldn't see any genitals so I asked the man how he knew and he had the nerve to tell me to ask my parents. As if they know how to sex turtles.

so im on a learning curve (slow very slow)

i have no idea on the difference on what a hatchery bird is or a showbird and yet i have no idea what the red waddle on a chickens head is for !!!!

It IS "Barnyard". I know. My brothers love that horrid movie. Has a few funny moments, but ultimately it's super obnoxious, and yes, all the bulls have udders... e.e

There is also a spin-off series called "Back at the Barnyard" (on netflix) featuring those same characters.

Oh my, I sure hope that lady isn't breeding.
