The EE braggers thread!!!

My baby girls are laying cute little green eggs!
love.gif

They range in weight from 33 grams to 39 grams. They are greener in person. The rounder ones are a smooth mint green, and likely her first eggs... not sure if they are Mary or Sybil's. My bantam easter eggers were about 37 weeks old when I found the first egg after winter break. Only Edith had laid any eggs before the days became short. I think that the larger, more olive-colored eggs are likely hers.

They are so cute, and I'm so proud of them!

They couldn't wait for me to spread the straw out.

I put out new straw to day and had chickens all over me and the
Geese were even wrapping their necks around my legs and doing
a little head shaking when they did this it was really funny to watch
and made even more difficult to spread out the straw so I just let
them do that part as I figured they probably knew more about how
it should really be accomplished

It was getting pretty muddy again. I hate slipping in the run. So new straw for them to scratch through for seeds. I only toss flakes around in general areas. They do the actual spreading for me.

The two birds on the left have a rivalry and push each other. The ameraucana hen won today and pushed her niece off the straw. Usually they are fighting over my lap. The EE pullet won earlier and had me to herself for petting earlier.

I got a nice blue egg from Rumples today. JOY!!!

congrats on the blue egg today!

I hear ya with no eggs and not wanting to buy store eggs. Yesterday I had 14 eggs(saved up over about a 5day span) and I have no idea what happened but we had a bad egg day.

My DD dropped the carton with 2 eggs in it, not a big deal really and then someone not thinking stuck the other full carton with 12 eggs in it into the freezer, they all broke open. Such a weird thing to tuck them in the freezer lol. So I was down to zero eggs. My sister was over and she said don't make such a big deal about it just go to the store and buy a carton. I said "I will NOT buy store eggs" I sounded like such an egg snob lol but I refuse to buy store eggs when I put so much time and money into these chickens for their eggs.

Luckily when we collected eggs last night my girls were good to me and we got 4 eggs... from 24hens

Oh Spring where are you?

@chicken pickin That sucks to lose that many eggs. Non chicken people do not quite understand the whole egg buying thing. We all have happy hens, not the poor tortured commercial layers. It hurts me to think about how they are abused so much!

I have 4 girls and when I got down to 4 eggs in one week, I decided to put a 15 watt bulb on a timer in the coop. I have gotten 7 per week since then. Not all were edible. There were an egg fart or two, but the girls got them scrambled up to eat.
Penny is on the nest!

Have a great Sunday....
