Pleather and hard wood helps. We go through a lot of Clorox wipes... Hoot is about 9-10 weeks, so still little yet.

Okay, major picture entry here. I hatched 15 EEs earlier this spring and it looks like I've got loads of cockerels. 3 chicks were a BLR Wyandotte & EE cross and there are a couple of EE & Legbar crosses as well. There is one chick not pictured here, another blue-based cockerel. I couldn't get him to hold still for a picture. There is only one chick I am uncertain of the gender, but I'm pretty sure it's a cockerel even though its comb isn't as red or large as the other obvious boys. The Wyandotte crosses were from my parents' flock- they had a Wyandotte cock and a couple of EE hens. Two of those chicks look nearly identical to one another. All of the other chicks were from my handsome gold duckwing EE (picture first) and my own hens.

I'm going to see how they grow out and keep a couple of cockerels for next year's breeding projects. I have another hatch I'd like to do later this summer once the heat breaks a bit and that will be with this EE cockerel over a different set of EE hens:

I have 16 EEs and one is about 2 months old. She is just getting in her body feathers and is turning into a beautiful silver bird. I was looking at her earlier and she is developing lacing!!!!!

I also have a 2 month old who's base color is lavender, and I has buff lacing.
