The EE braggers thread!!!

pipdzipdnreadytogo Nice flock of birds. Thomas has spectacular coloring . I also like Cressida and Mako because I am partial to the Female Wheaten coloring.

I have a question about EE's. I am new to chickens. Thinking about adding some different varieties to my flock. I really love the look of the EE's on the cover of backyard poultry magazine- latest edition. At first I thought they were some sort of ameraucana, but after browsing this site I am wrong. I know that EE's are quite a hodgepodge of genetics, but I was wondering if there is a hatchery that is more likely to send a day-old bird that has the buff or light red with the black on the hackles and black splashed throughout. Or is it a crap shoot every time?

Generally the 4-H office I order with orderes from mcmurray. I saw earlier in this thread a bird from mcmurray that is JUST the coloring I am looking for. Does anyone else have birds from mcmurray that are the same or different coloring?

Every time I see this color I just...

Betty and Cressy are the most friendly of the lot, too. (Mags is friendly as well, but she doesn't like to be touched. She'll peck me if I try to pet her. XD )

Here is a picture of my McMurray Hatchery Easter Egger pullet I got from them in February. She started laying last week and she has given me an egg EVERY day! I am also including pictures of her eggs. The are a beautiful light green-blue color. They look blue in the photos but in real life they appear more green than blue.

Here is a picture of her:

and from the side - she is quite "willowy" . I call her "Wild Child" because her face feathers make her look like she's been shocked.

Here are her eggs from my first dozen eggs I got from my girls - in less than a week!

I went in with a neighbor on an order of chicks as I wanted all different kinds of breeds. I have kept her, a Delaware hen, New Hampshire Red hen, a white Jersey Giant hen, a Cuckoo Maran hen, and my "mystery chick" who is turning out to be a stunning Partridge Cochin . I have been very impressed that they all started laying at 4 1/2 months of age - except the Jersey Giant. However, that breed is very slow to mature and that is just fine with me. They all have wonderful temperaments and I have been very pleased with the chickens I got from McMurray hatchery. This is the first time I have ever owned chickens and I just love them!

I have 2 EEs, 2 Speckled Sussex, and 2 Silver-laced Wyandottes. They make for some pretty eye candy wandering around the backyard.
