The EE braggers thread!!!

Sure, waiting is a good idea. Slate legs are not normal for RO's. They're supposed to be yellow but some have white legs due to crossbreeding with Speckled Sussex. If they lay an egg that is blue or green in hue...your birds are definately EE's. If they lay a light tinted or brown egg the mystery will remain unsolved because EE's can also lay any color egg. I wouldn't worry about it. They are beautiful regardless of what they are. Until you know...I'd say the slate leg is strong enough reason to go ahead and call them EE's. IMHO. Just enjoy them and post more pics.

ETA: After looking at the pics again...those legs look yellow from here.

I made the collages before I got my GFM ... I really needed to conserve upload space then. I take too many pictures.

Vegaschick - such a lovely variety of colors. Where did you get them, what hatchery? I'm going to order a box of EE and I'm considering which hatchery.

Lovely hens. And I love your hen names.

Thanks for all the nice comments on my girls and the interest.

I edited my post to show where I got my girls. I started out getting POL or point of lay pullets off Craigs List (Amelia in Las Vegas, Jules & Pene in Southern UT) then I built a bator and tried my hand at hatching some out. I got eggs from KatyTheChickenLady and ke_ben (Bella and Lizzie...my favorites!) I also got eggs from a lady in UT who had birds from Murray McMurray. Only one hatched (Uno) so I bought a chick she'd just gotten from MCM as a companion (Sunny). After that I got chicks from a local feedstore supplied by Privett (Fanny, Kitty, Nutmeg, and Cinnamon) and bought a few older laying hens from evonne who got them from the same feedstore (Inga & Eva). I love the variety I have now and am excited about some of my little chicklets that my hens hatched out from eggs I got from ke_ben. I finally am gonna have some blues and a Leghorn cross! Yay! I find that I like the homemade variety best. I seem to get more variation in colors that way. As you can see I have pea combed hens that lay cream & brownish pink, as well as straight combed hens that lay olive green and blue. I just love 'em all.

Oh, yeah. I used photoshop to make my collages.

Thanks. I have spice girls and Jane Austen girls and I used variants or actual names of people I got the hens from when purchased on CL as their names. More info on my BYC pages about that.
