The EE braggers thread!!!

I am relatively new to chickens, but I think one of my 10 chickens is an EE. I have been obsessively reading everything I can about chickens, and LOVE the photos on this thread. I've decided that EE's are my favorite, and if I can get more chickens in the future (I'm going to see how my 10 work out), I definitely want more EE's. My girl, Rosemary, is about 5 or 6 weeks old. I got her and her "friends" from a lady that was hatching mixed-breed eggs. Rosemary is growing a beard, but her legs are yellow. She was chipmunk colored as a chick. Two of my others were also chipmunk colored but they don't look much like EE's. Rosemary is by far one of the smartest of the group - always grabs the mealworms before the others get a chance! She also likes to perch on my hand/arm.

I am new to chickens and was wondering how long can I expect my hens to lay (once they start that is)? My Easter Egggers are only 2 weeks old but I just can't wait!!!!!!!! I have read that I may start getting eggs at 17 weeks old. When did you all start getting eggs? My oldest chickens were purched March 6 and they are the Wyandottes. I also have 4 Golden sex link that were purched April 3.

I have my first EEs, two chicks I hatched out on the 13th of April.
One I think the black one is a roo, the other a pullet.
The little black guy is feather footed, he's so adoreable! my favorite out of this years bunch of chicks.

No names for them yet, the orange one is a little skittish, which is funny because I was there as it hatched and poked it's head out.

Any guesses if they're a roo or pullet? I had just noticed how quickly the orange one's feather's were growing out compared to the other's.

Wow, I have never heard of a chicken laying as early as 17 weeks. My sex-links are by far the earliest chickens that I have to start laying and they normally start somewhere around 22, 23, 24 weeks, though I think I had one batch once who started at 20 weeks, but I've always sort of assumed that I had my notes wrong on those, not really sure..... I just got a first blue egg out of this winter's EEer hatch and that pullet is 28 weeks old. There are four other pullets who hatched with her and I'm still waiting for them to lay their first eggs. It can be really hard to guess when an easter egger will start to lay, because they can be so many different variations of breeds and it all depends on the genetics involved. It could be a long wait on your EEers, but by golly, those pretty little eggs, once they start appearing in the nest boxes (or under the coop, or in the trees, etc...) so, so, so make the wait worth while!

Hmmm, are those muffs I see?? Hopefully it's a hen and the mystery will be solved when the eggs start appearing and you see what color they are!

I have had a few EEs and I love them! No matter what other chickens I have, I always want at least a couple EEs in the mix, just for some color (both feathers and eggs).

My first EE, Luna:

Joy is lovely! Reminds me of my EE girl that was recently killed. Her name was Sunflower, and I've got 2 of her chicks in my brooder.

Her kids were crossed with a Barnevelder, so they should be olive eggers.
