That's my plan. Paula gets special treatment, whether she deserves it or not. She's my survivor. The new girls have to learn to get along or their next home will be considerably cooler and more crowded....our freezer is almost full.

I would say to breed EE to EE to get better chances at blue eggs (if the pullet lays blue), and you would also have a higher chance of pea combed chicks. It's all up to you. I like EE to EE and an EE roo to any henI am completely new to breeding chickens so this may have been addressed somewhere on this forum, but I did not see it. Is it okay to breed an Easter Egger roo to an Easter Egger pullet or should you have some other breed in the mix? If it is okay is there a formula or pattern that would predict how many would look like the roo, how many would look like the pullet and so forth?
I really want the blue eggs and the muffs and beards. Thanks.I would say to breed EE to EE to get better chances at blue eggs (if the pullet lays blue), and you would also have a higher chance of pea combed chicks. It's all up to you. I like EE to EE and an EE roo to any hen![]()
so will the girls carry a barred gene? What do you think would happen with the Blue Barred roo the Lavender girls, will some have the barring? How about the Blue Barred hens under the Lavender Ameraucana roo? This is fun. I love the combo's. My Lavender Ameraucana's are laying some pretty blue eggs and they are under a OE cockerel and a clean legged Marans roo. He's probably going to go to auction, he's really big, I'm just watching that he doesn't hurt them. I want to see if the Marans girls pass the feathered legs gene to her chicks even if the boys are clean.![]()
Nice.I have 20 days for my OE hatch, I have BR pullet under a Lavender Ameraucana cockerel, can't wait to see those chicks.
Those would be sexlinks too. They SHOULD be just black and black barred roos. Lavenders shouldn't hide other colors if breed correctly.
I think I read someone wanting to toss a Wheaten in the pen to add some color.... wheaten is recessive and it takes 2 copies for the color to express same with Lavender.
