ChickeNmamma, I just noticed that the pic of my young guy didnt load and show. Here is it. I have some other roos that look similar to Blue roo but with more black. I just thought they looked like salmon Faverolles.

This is the youngster.

Do you have any Faverolles in your flock? I really think that Faverolle genetics are contributing to this coloration. I have two Faverolle hens. One is buff and the other is mahagony. I bet this coloring is from the mahagony hen.

I have no Faverolles. But I didn't hatch this guy out either, I bought him from McMurray as a Bantam "Americauna".

So I am a chicken newb and was wondering about my new girl. I traded for a blue layer today, she is beautiful, flighty but new so I expected that I was told she was a 10 month old ameracauna*, from some googling I'm thinking easter egger tho! She hasn't laid yet, fingers crossed they're blue eggs! Can anyone confirm that she's an easter egger and a "she" for me? Thanx so much.

well, she is definitely part game, and more than likely an EE. Very pretty bird!

hmm maybe a Icelandic or sweedish flower hen x easter egger or ameraucana.
The coloring is real nice.

I named the pullet Poto, it just fits her and her feather pattern!

Most of my flock is made up of what I refer to as "barnyard specials." I got my first contributors to my flock by finding them running down the side walk (the little guy in my avaitar), from a friend as a rescue roo (a Faverolle roo) and two wild "hens" from a lady who owns a horse stable and had wild birds she caught for me. One turned out to be a hen (from which my chicken craziness developed) and the other was yet another roo. I have gotten a few eggs (Faverolle, EE, and Orpington genetics) and the Ameraucana standard size roo from outside these four previously mentioned. Most of the flock come from unknown genetics though. Swedish Flower hen...dont know. Ill have to look up that hen type and compare the looks. With the ones I have I get some new look all the time. It is amazing the hidden genetics that have come out from that one wild hen and her suitors!
