The EE braggers thread!!!

I've been anxiously awaiting eggs from my OE pullet who's about 7 months old. I noticed she was starting to squat this week, so I have been keeping a close eye on her. She finally laid her first egg today - it isn't olive, but is a beautiful turquoise color. So I guess she can join the EE ranks :)

I hatched her out from some BCM x EE hatching eggs I got from a forum member.

Her egg between my wheaten marans and lakenvelder eggs, it's a really pretty shade of blue!

Wow - beautiful bird and beautiful egg!

Is the red on the wings ALWAYS true? I have one hen, ginger who is red and white lace on her front half, but the red gets EXTREMELY dark on the wings, while it's only a light red on the rest of her body, but I know she's a pullet.

Red is masculine when you have a patch of red on the wing of a chicken of another color. Let's say your blue chick starts getting red in the middle wing? Boy. Every time. But, a chick with red patterning? Could go either way. You have to look at the distribution of color or for other signs like comb development. It is sometimes a matter of shades of red. I have a reddish buff hen and she has some scattered red-brown feathers. It's a less intense shade of red and her black patterning continues through those feathers.

Here are a few of mine.

Beautiful! I love their gentle body colours with lighter shade of muffs. Are they EE., OE., or Am? I have the most difficult time differentiating between these three breeds. Well, regardless of what they may be called, I like each and every one!!

I have my EEs together too w hens. I want to make olive eggers so I'm going to put my BCM roo in w the EE girls. How long till try have the BCM Roos sperm an not the EE roo anymore

You'll get some baby chicks. It's really hard to tell what colorsswill come out. According to the calculator all chicks should be blue, but I've found that doen't always hold true.

I have a splash marans and all his off springs are blue. Bred him to hertiage rhode island reds , all chicks blue in color. Bred the black giants all chicks blue. Any barnyard hens bred to him the chicks are blue
