I have been told that some people are lucky and get Pink and Lavender eggs. Do any of you have chickens that lay those colors that can post pictures? I have a hard time picking out the blue from the green too. I think I'm looking for to dark of color on the blue. If anyone has good examples of egg color I sure would appreciate some clarification.

I think I saw on some other thread that @wolftracks had a lavender egg project?

All this talk on lavender eggs. I am curious. I am novice and thought that eggs were either white or blue with or without brown "coating" creating 4 possibilities.... how does one get lavender>?

Do you have access to a wheaten hen or two? You could see if he breeds true that way.

Not at this time, only our layers RedStars and our Cochins. If I run across any wheaton hen in the area would be interested in trying.

I believe you could also use blue wheaten and splash wheaten.

My latest laying EE is laying a real pretty mauve color. All my others lay green.

Some chickens have a sort of powder type coating that gives a pinkish look to the eggs, depending on the base or real egg color I'm assuming that same powder type layer can create the lavender type look to it.

My new and adorable rumpless EE. :-D. She is a cutie! I can't wait to see what color her eggs will be.
