This is for hangtown and Steen. Even I have trouble with some of the AM people. Some become very set in their opinions. I find I can take my projects that cause controversy to EE project status and have positive conversations. I have a sort of unspoken agreement with them. I go to EE status on my projects and they do not comment on them. Most would not look at a EE site. On the plus side the objectors are few they just are like that squeaky hinge. They draw your attention. My position is I buy the feed so I decide what I will feed. There is room for everyone in this hobby.
Hi All,
I am happy I have found this site because I love muffs and beards on ANY COLOR OF CHICKEN! There I've stood my ground, I've said it out loud, I am not ashamed. I AM AN EE LOVER!!
And those of you that post here have some very lovely birds!
LOL! Hi Jerry, I agree with you, I buy the feed so I decide what I will feed/breed too.
I hope you continue to stay on the EE site so that I may learn more from your experience and the experience of all the other fantastic people here because, I AM A NOVICE!! LOL! I don't get on very often but I check in to read and learn. I have also been asked on occasion to move my question or comment to another area. Reading various posts I get confused many times by all the Ameraucana and Easter Egger controversy.
It makes me wonder if it is shortsighted of people to look at any chicken or other animal breed as
not having a mixed breed origin? Yes, over many years of selective breeding an animal can become a "pure" breed HOWEVER, didn't a good number of chicken breeds start as someone's experiment or by a rooster accidentally (or strategically on his part) getting into a pen? And unless natural environmental conditions are very limited, restricted and isolated, mother nature has ensured procreation by
leaving out overly selective breeding. Meaning, if a roo - any roo, (or stallion, bull, etc) is in rut and has a chance he is going to mate a female of his same
species. And vice versa. He/she doesn't care if she/he is a "pure" Ameraucana, EE or whatever! At least, that's what my Roo tells me every day! LOL!! By my observation the animals are all about "experimentation!"
