The EE braggers thread!!!

This is for hangtown and Steen. Even I have trouble with some of the AM people. Some become very set in their opinions. I find I can take my projects that cause controversy to EE project status and have positive conversations. I have a sort of unspoken agreement with them. I go to EE status on my projects and they do not comment on them. Most would not look at a EE site. On the plus side the objectors are few they just are like that squeaky hinge. They draw your attention. My position is I buy the feed so I decide what I will feed. There is room for everyone in this hobby.

Congrats LynnEBC!! I have five 22 week olds that I am anxiously waiting to see what they lay. I just had a couple leghorns start laying, excited to see some color!
Thank you. Mine are just about 25 weeks now. It seems to me that once the others start in my flock they get jealous and want to lay an egg too. I hope that you get blue or green eggs. Both of them are squatting now too and the other may be laying, if she is the egg is almost identical in color to the first layer, but a little longer. I hope they both are laying, I guess I will know for sure if I get two of those blue/green eggs in one day!

This is Snowball, my frizzle Easter egger. She hasn't laid an egg yet but it should happen any day now.
She is adorable, I love her look and the name really fits.

Easter Eggers are the best, aren't they?? So dang cute!!

They really are!

A few shots from bedtime tonight

They are all so pretty. Those puffy cheeks on those EE's, just love them. I have a Salmon Faverolle too and love her puffy face as well. I wonder if anyone every crossed an EE with a SF? Hmmmm, I'd love to see those chicks!

its looking like a blue EE/banty cochin mix(2 shades of grey) ~mom has blue and brown dad is white

She is so cute, love those feathered feet.

I found an angry bird in my coop today!!
She has pretty coloring, looks a little cold there, she is like a big ball all fluffed up like that.

All 3 of my EE's are laying now!

Looks like i'm getting blue, green and green with speckles. A nice variety :)

So hard to get their true color in a picture!
That is a great variety. You have a lot of eggs there too. I love all those colors.

Lynn, one of the kinda trendy things I've heard of (and would love to try if I could!) is a Favacana....you're supposed to get nice pale/mint green eggs and a very friendly bird with beard, muffs, light leg feathers, and 5 toes!

Hi All,

I am happy I have found this site because I love muffs and beards on ANY COLOR OF CHICKEN! There I've stood my ground, I've said it out loud, I am not ashamed. I AM AN EE LOVER!!
And those of you that post here have some very lovely birds!

LOL! Hi Jerry, I agree with you, I buy the feed so I decide what I will feed/breed too.

I hope you continue to stay on the EE site so that I may learn more from your experience and the experience of all the other fantastic people here because, I AM A NOVICE!! LOL! I don't get on very often but I check in to read and learn. I have also been asked on occasion to move my question or comment to another area. Reading various posts I get confused many times by all the Ameraucana and Easter Egger controversy.

It makes me wonder if it is shortsighted of people to look at any chicken or other animal breed as not having a mixed breed origin? Yes, over many years of selective breeding an animal can become a "pure" breed HOWEVER, didn't a good number of chicken breeds start as someone's experiment or by a rooster accidentally (or strategically on his part) getting into a pen? And unless natural environmental conditions are very limited, restricted and isolated, mother nature has ensured procreation by leaving out overly selective breeding. Meaning, if a roo - any roo, (or stallion, bull, etc) is in rut and has a chance he is going to mate a female of his same species. And vice versa. He/she doesn't care if she/he is a "pure" Ameraucana, EE or whatever! At least, that's what my Roo tells me every day! LOL!! By my observation the animals are all about "experimentation!"

Since my Roo Blackbeard is all about "experimenting" on his own. Look what popped out this summer..

LITTLE TWO TONE MOON FACES! Circle faces of one color (not just the muff and beard) and neck/body a different color.

The first pic is my roo last year, and the last pic is my roo now after his molt. He has a pure black muff and beard outlined with the lighter mane color. Pictures In between his two are some of his offspring. A couple are not as defined or color contrasting as the others but the "circle" is there. The cream and rust one is a cockerel and I will be continuing the "experimentation" with him. The one with him on the roost is brown and his face is all black but the "circle" type thing is there.

Does anyone else have any EE's like this? Is there a name for this? Does anyone know what the genetics are to get this? Or have any good guesses what I need to do to continue it? If so please let me know. Maybe we can work together for more "moonies."
