The EE braggers thread!!!

My new four. I was told they are EE. It really doesn't matter if they aren't .

The all black one laid a light tan egg today. She has really pretty pearly green/purple feathers when you see her up close.

She looks like my black australorp mix girls. Only my girls have gray/black legs.

I learned that always ask the color of eggs before you buy. I didnt ask and my new hens are laying normal egg colors... Lesson learned..

With EE it's always a risk.
I've noticed many of the breeders just don't understand genetics.
If you have an EE rooster and an EE hen, many times they are cross breeds that only carry the blue egg gene on one side. If both parents are that way then it really doesn't matter what color egg they came from, your still 50/50 on getting a blue egg gene in the offspring. So even if Daddy came from a blue egg, and Momma lays green eggs, you can still get brown egg layers from them.
To all but insure blue or green eggs, you need to use at least one parent with two copies.
