The EE braggers thread!!!

EE's dont have regular combs do they? I was told this hen was an EE when i bought her in September but i see everyone's EE' all have little pea combs. She lays cream eggs but i dont think she is an EE. If not then i have 5 EE's not 6

Some hatcherys cross their birds with leghorns. Could your bird have some leghorn in her?

This hen is a hatchery EE and I suspect she is part leghorn.

From Wikipedia
"The Araucana or Spanish: Gallina Mapuche is a breed of chicken originating in Chile. It is well known for its blue eggs, which has been a subject of controversy regarding whether or not the breed was developed from birds that arrived pre or post Columbian. The egg colour is caused by a DNA retrovirus that occurred sometime early in domestication.[4] In the United States it may be known as the South American Rumpless,[5] and may be confused with other fowl, especially the Ameraucana and Easter Egger.
"

Wikipedia again:
:The Ameraucana is an American breed of domestic chicken developed in the United States in the 1970s. It was derived from the Araucana breed of Chile, and was bred to maintain the blue egg color of that breed while eliminating the lethal recessive gene.[1][4] There is also an Ameraucana bantam variety.

Last, but NOT least ( LOVE the EE!)
An Easter Egger is any chicken that possesses the "blue egg" gene, but doesn't fully meet any breed standard defined in the American Poultry Association's (APA) standards, or in the case of Easter Egger bantams, the American Bantam Association's (ABA) standards. The name derives from the resemblance of their colorful eggs to Easter eggs. TheAraucana, Ameraucana, and Easter Egger are descended from the same founder stock that spread around the world from Chile and the Falklands.

Plus all the amazing variations on this thread pictured!!!!! This was a fun educational trip for me. Hope some of you liked it too!!!

Those are keepers. Just so special markings.

I'm going to try and breed my EEs this year. Hoping to get some coloring passed on. Not sure how all these recessive mutt genes will play out!

Look what I pulled from the incubator this morning

These two were the only ones left. I set 11 EE eggs. There was one more that looked like these and the other 6 that hatched were either black or blue, some of both colors.
Only two eggs haven't hatched, waiting until tomorrow until I throw un hatched out.
