The EE braggers thread!!!

Quote:
Both the APA versions of Araucana and Ameraucana were bred from mixed heritage types that now are / were called araucana or easter egg chickens . Somewhere in this B , G , & S section there is a thread in which the OP states that McMurrey's type is close enough to one of the original variaties that it warrants kept as a heritage breed [ not a direct quote , but in so many words ] . He goes into much detail of those birds in S.A. that are blue / green egg layers . But I'm sure , by the appearence , that Ameraucana have been used to create some hatchery strains . As long as one parent has one copy of the gene for blue eggs , there's a 50% chance of the offspring having it .

Try this thread: QUECHUA /Tojuda/ Ameraucana/ Easter Eggers{ In vino veritas by Resolution [ 1 2 3 … 10 ]
I've been trying to follow it but it is broken up and hard for my small mind to follow, I would love to have it printed up so that it is all together. Enjoy!

too early to speculate as to gender?

Newlyweds: Thats what I thought, but are they actually called olive eggers if he doesn't lay eggs?!! (I guess I never really thought about it until now!), like usually it's: 'He caries the blue egg gene'! (hahah! not to sound like a total ditz!

Wow, he's really handsome. I'm very jealous; all my BCM/Ameraucana cross roosters are UGLY. How'd your guy turn out so stunning? I'd love to see the hen who created this guy.

The pic on the CL post wasn't too flattering either.. it was and old pic when he was going through the uglies, It was just a red/blue little roo with adolecent feathers, but none.the.less I HAD to have him!! So it was an extra surprise when she pulled him out! Now he kinda just needs some ladies he wont eventually squish! (unlike my poor little cochin who's about 1/4 his size! and my standard who looks like a little bantam compaired to him!!)
