The EE braggers thread!!!

Such a handsome guy! I had wondered if he looked different as a chick, but nope, not really! LOL I guess they are just a big surprise all the way around. Hope my coco is half as pretty.

I love my EE that I bred....I really love blue EE..Here's my results.
This is the little blue roo that throws Red in his feathers he's the sweetest.

This little blue roo throws Blonde in his feathers....He's Big.

This is Ghost she comes and goes and you never know where she just came from....very shy but sweet.
I should call her Rue...(some may get this)

EE's are the best...
Tell me what you think of the blue colors.

I got 3 EE from Ideal in December and got my first pullet egg today. A nice blue/green egg. Put it next to something green and it looks blue, put it next to something blue and it looks green. I took a pic of the kids holding the pullet egg next to our RIR 1 year old brown egg and then the kid promptly dropped the blue egg on the kitchen floor. Oh well, mixed it up with some oats and cooked it for the chickies...

They are 21 weeks. (PS - this is the very first post I've gotten to work since the old site turned into this thing..... YAY! I'd post a pic, but that's a feat for another day.)

Thanks, he has always been a cutie pie and a ham when it comes to pics so I have plenty:

In this last one he just started getting his "rusting". I had no idea at the time he would develop red colored feathers.
I have a little roo that looks just like your's in the second to last pic, my little guy doesn't have any rusting on him though. at first it startled me....thought "I didn't post that pic" LOL What is his breeding that the white and black come out? I have a little pullet with the same coloring, black is not as prominant and her tail isn't as tall, nor do her tail feathers, curl because of length, as my little roo's does.

Question anybody....

I have 9 Ameraucana or EE's 1 of which is a little roo, as stated in my previous post, so I have (assuming) 8 pullets in a grow-out pen with him, they are all approx 7-8 weeks old. Today I went in and there was an egg in the little day house that has straw in it....none of my older hens have had access to this pen. The egg was not there yesterday. I know this for sure because I was on my knees watching them on the roost, which is directly above where the egg was found. The egg was about large size and white, perfectly formed. How is this possible? I thought pullets wouldn't start laying until at least 18 weeks and most start much later....what's going on here? I'm dumbfounded!!

marlo1968 Is it possible that someone is playing with you ? Two months is rather early and pullet eggs as you know are usually smaller plus EE eggs are mostly colored

Kassaundra You have a ton of photographs because you LOVE taking photographs tee hee

peaches2u How wonderful to see the changes on you EE hens after their molt and such shinny and beautiful feather especially on the doubled laced or penciled one. I am sure that good food and care helped them get so beautiful but also it is common for birds to change colors after their molts. EEs do have a reputation for making lovely new shades of blue after the first molt

Marlo, I don't know his breeding he came from Meyer hatchery. Your little roo willl most likely develop the red too, if he is the same age as Oreo's pic you commented on, he should start "rusting" in a couple of weeks. I think (if I am remembering and quoting Illia correctly) that color in both the male and female has been refered to as silver duck wing based. If I have missunderstood Illia I'm sorry (chicken genetics makes my ears bleed)

Okies. Here are my 4 EE babies, I'm hoping all girls. Already one of my SEXED BC Marans is looking to be a roo. So here goes. These chicks are not named really, so I have given color or personality- related names for the sake of responding and describing the chicks besides ":chick no. 1...". They will be 5 weeks old on Monday.

So based on the feathering patterns tutorial in the EE sexing thread, is macaroni a boy? (should I have posted is there? If so, sorry!)

Thanks for posting pictures of your EE's, my chicks are going on 4 weeks old and my EE looks like it is going to turn into exactly what "Goldie" looks like! I was curious to know what she would look like, I hadn't seen a picture on here that looked just right until now, thanks!

Pretty chickens by the way, I love the red in macaroni! Sorry, I don't have any experience sexing but I hope they are all girls!
