I don't post here often, but just thought I'd give an update on my EE roo:
He was killed by a raccoon. It's so upsetting! The little guy was so pretty! He was like a splash color. BUT I do have a few EE in the bator now hehe.
Here's my baby that was killed:
The two silkies were killed too <.< I am getting a padlock on the human door this weekend, seeing as all the chickens that were in the coop are now dead. I'll keep you guys updated with the ones in the bator though![]()

Actually, I saw them last night. It was a mom and 3 or four babies trying to get in my brooder in the garage. So now my garage is on shut down at night, and I'm enclosing my run, and securing all entrances to the coop to hopefully coexist with the coons. I probably sound like a tree hugger xD but I just figure that we have 63 acres, and as long as we coon proof everything, there's room for everybody!Sorry about your chicks!!! I hate that, and they always get your favorites, tooYou know, you can set a live trap halfway in, halfway out of your coop so it looks like an easy entry and I bet you could catch that booger. Worked for me.
They will be back, they know there is food there and she has babies to feed..... it is hard to keep a coon out. They are VERY smart and can open just about any lock.......Yeah, I blame what has happened so far on myself. Should have realized that the latch wasn't good enough to keep a smart coon out. BUT if after I do all this if so much as one chicken gets killed they are OUT! No more Mrs. nice guy xD. My sister recommended that I sit inside the coop with the shotgun and see which unlucky guy opens the coop door first! Almost tempting after a sizzle, an australorp(Which belonged to a 5 year old that is devastated), 2 silkies, and an EE all went.
