I also have an Omlet Eglu! My girls and I love it. I think the first couple of times (two maybe), my girls had no idea what was happening to them and therefor laid in the roosting bars (all soft shelled eggs that fell through onto the tray), but, after that, they started laying in the nesting box without a problem!By the way, do you like your Omlet Eglu? Do your hens use the nesting boxes?
I’ve had mine for about 4 months and I find it very practical.![]()

You also have the walk-in run! That’s what we want to get next. I think I’ve seen your pic before, now I remember.I love it! I put a couple of fake eggs in the nest box so they know where to lay. One tried to sleep in there, so I closed the slider door at night until she got the point. I use sand under the roost bars and scoop once a day like I clean cat litter. I have the walk in run and use deep litter, so it's self composting. I have tarps up for the winter. I think I made it about as easy as I can. See below.

That’s great information. I wonder if that will be the case here. I have Matt’s, nesting material, dry herbs and fake eggs all in the hope they get the idea (ha, ha)I also have an Omlet Eglu! I planned on four--two Salmon Faverolles, one each Favaucana and Whiting True Blue. Then I took in a Red Sex Link who needed a new home. Four standard hens are good. Five is pushing it, but it's been fine. That’s great information. I wonder if that will be the case here. How many chickens do you house in your eglu? I have two buff Orpington but will add two smaller breeds in a month, they’ll be around 5 pounds as not 8 like my buff Orpington.
She sure looks reddy!she will be the first one laying an egg. She’s the one singing the eggs song
I have four golden buffs, so they're pretty small, probably around 5 lbs as well. That’s great information. I wonder if that will be the case here. I have Matt’s, nesting material, dry herbs and fake eggs all in the hope they get the idea (ha, ha)
