The EMERGENCY Thread!!!

Pics
I need help!! I have a 2 week old Whiteleg Horn chick and she isn't doing good at all. It first started this morning and I noticed it around 12 this afternoon. I picked her up and noticed that she was trying to peep but nothing was coming out, then I put her down and she kinda stumbled around, found the heat lamp and just stood there with her eyes closed. She's gotten a lot worse now. I'm giving her water through a dropper if she will actually drink but most of the time she just lays on me and won't move and let's me lift her head on my own. I don't know what to do. I'm keeping her warm and offering plenty of water. She won't eat any food and I haven't seen her poop in a while. She's the only one out of seven other chicks who is doing this

Keep her warm. Can you take her to a vet in the morning?

Keep her warm. Can you take her to a vet in the morning?

I could, is there anything I could do to help her overnight while I sleep? I hate putting her back into the brooder with the rest of my chicks cause they all just step on her :( it would be hard to get her to the vet and make sure she is warm enough... but I could certainly try if that's my only option

How is she this morning?

Whew. Rough. Also if you catch this in time in the future you can give activated charcoal. It is benign and absorbs like millions of little sponges...locks it in and it passes without incident in the stool. If this is an older bird and it has been some time I would take her to a vet to get it in a shot form . It really needs to shunt into her blood rapidly to reverse the chaos that starts happening in her blood. She should NOT drink water until the vet sees her ASAP. If you don' t want to go that route... she will probably not make it.Sorry my post did not post where it should. This is in response to the hen that are eat poison !

I am so sorry your dealing with this. I would send that picture, a picture of all the dead chicks and a copy of the receipt to the USPS. all claims filing is done online now. Pictures to document are a must. You'll need the tracking number, shippers address and your address to file the claim. File the claim ASAP on www.usps.com
Also if you look at the Hatchery website....they tell you to inspect the package right there upon receiving it. Then you follow instructions and file your complaint right then and there. The employ will know the procedure and by law must help you and inform you. You can also ask for a manager if they won' t help you.I personally love Meyer hatchery.I always get healthy chicks from them. And they are good on their word with their guarantee. Better luck next time. Don't give up.

What exactly happening in this picture ? It's hard to see. Is it genetic deformation? If so I have not had good success with fixing genetic deformation . It happens and you will have to decide the future... Can it love like this?

NEW EMERGENCY !!!! Can my chick foot be fixed ? It is 2 days old . ,
It could be a vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) deficiency or genetic disorder. Provide your chick with B2 - you can use poultry vitamins or crush a human B-Complex vitamin and add it to her feed.

You may also need to make "corrective shoes" to put on the feet.
