The EMERGENCY Thread!!!

Pics
Hello, I woke to check on my chickens and I have a chicken that looks like it has literally been scalped. The skin still hanging. I'm not sure what to do. She seemed a little weird when she would go on the roost, almost out of it. I've called the vet and waiting, but she didn't respond to my last text a few days ago. I have isolated her within the coop and put some vetricin on it. I'm big on all natural so I also put some coconut oil and lavender/melaleuca to help with any infection. Any ideas on what else I can do until vet calls? And do I need to completely isolate her from the rest of the chickens? Help!!
can you post a pic of her?

some of us had chickens with similar injuries and they got well. try to prevent any infections and make sure the other chickens cannot peck her. I hope you will talk to your vet soon.

yes separate her from the others, once they see blood they dont stop picking, raw honey is a great natural remedy to use

I've isolated her within the coop in hopes when she gets better they don't go after her. I also put some electrolytes in her water to make sure she drinks. And I always give them garlic to eat with some other herbs. And then I put oregano in their water. Hoping all that will help. I've called 3 vets and no luck.

my little chick was much worse and got well within few days. I think you are doing well. there is some powder that you can put on the wound to help heal faster. it is for human use but I don't know the name. I always say I want a powder that helps to stop bleeding.

good luck.

it doesnt look that bad, i would just clean it with some warm water and epsom salt, then if you have raw honey put that on it, otherwise neosporin/bacitracin

Not clear how to start a new thread. I haven't been on this website in a while because I forgot my password.I just had to give it time to work it out and set it again. I have chicks that are 8 weeks old now. Last week somehow I went through a coccidiosis nightmare and I learned a lot. I used cayenne and garlic ,chopped garlic that is, in their feed as well as Corid in the water. They cleared up beautifully but now somehow all 45 of my birds are developing some kind of respiratory issue with congestion and sneezing. Considering going to get Tylan50 at the feed store and 22 gauge needles. I just don't even know what the disease is. I have looked up everything from infectious bronchitis to fowl pox and my birds don't look anything like this. The eight week old chick that I noticed first was sneezing mucusy and just kind of rough feathers look and huddled. It is gaining energy and clearing up, but it's been kind of a nightmare the past couple of weeks. How do I know for sure my flock is not affected for life ? And if I don't know what I'm dealing with how do I treat it? I did have one bird died 3 weeks ago. I wanted to get a necropsy done but it was going to be $300!

I just have ducks, but is the bedding or food moldy?
