I love that smiley!

Don't worry, the quilting bug causes brief episodes of lethargy but you recover quickly once an interesting new fabric comes along :D

LOL. My lethargy is caused by the stupid heat. And then, our precarious mountain power went out for over an hour today so not even a fan running. Thankfully, next week has 70's for highs and 50's for lows, my perfect range of temps.

It has been 97, and over all week here, ugh.

Ah, but what humidity level? Ours has been around 80-85% some days so that even temps in the 70's make you sweat. But, we've had temps up into the mid to high 80's recently with that humidity, too. Blech. Give me dry heat! I remember that in Colorado and Utah very well. Even 0* didn't feel all that cold to me, though it sure dried out your nasal passages.

You remember the lady who bought a Brahma pair from me and was worried that her Zeus was a wuss? She just PM'd me again saying Zeus keeps spitting up. I told her that she needed to check his crop to see if it was like a gassy balloon and if his breath smells sour, that it could be sour crop, to check and get back to me. But, I also told her she really should ask here under Emergencies, that there are many nice folks who are willing to help her. I think she may have encountered one of our curmudgeons and thinks everyone is rude. I may not get her message on FB, though, plus there are so many helpful people here ready and waiting to help. She's a nice young lady, very pretty, and I know she cares about the chickens. I hope she hasn't been feeding fermented feed or something like that.

I had previously told her that people tend to over-complicate chicken keeping, that they only need good quality feed with a proper protein level, good fresh water, a dry environment inside their coop with good ventilation up high and they should do well, that Brahmas do better on slightly higher protein than your average layer, plus she could add some sort of probiotic and maybe flax seed, BOSS for vitamin E if she wanted. She seems like someone who wants to do something extra, which I understand, but sometimes, extra is too much extra, if you know what I mean. I hope she figures it out. Maybe he just drank too much at once today, who knows?

ETA: I found out that she belongs to the FB group, not our website here. I don't even belong to the FB group and it might not even be ours she is on. I hope she joins. This is too great of a resource! And she says no gassy crop, no bad smell, so he probably just guzzled water. That's good.

Our humidity is usually around 30 percent.
