The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Adding that I bought 3 jars of baby food at Walmart...for Thea. I got beef with beef broth for her high protein, sweet peas, and a jar of combined corn and sweet potatoes. So, I figured that those things, being as mashed up as they can be without actually being liquid, would be easy on her crop. I got a teaspoon of each in a tiny pan and she ate that stuff! An old breeder, actually the one I got the Stukels from, had told me that tomato juice was good for crop issues so I got her some low sodium (couldn't find salt free) V-8..they didn't have any low sodium plain tomato juice. I added a tablespoon of that in with her baby food. She liked it. Figured it can't hurt and maybe she'll get some vitamins and nutrition out of it while her crop is deciding if it wants to let her live or not.

Thea's crop is quite a bit better now. Alice continues to heal up okay.

Is this a buck rub/scrape, whatever it's called? This is almost right next to my driveway inside the fence. It is definitely fresh. I never see a buck with anything to rub on my property and certainly not inside the fence. Tom thought someone took a hatchet to our tree and when he showed me, I said it appeared to be a rub...there is a very old one about 8 ft up that same truck directly over this one.

Bear?? I don't see any claw marks and this is pretty low to the ground so a bear never occurred to me, but I've seen them at the pasture gate twice, once in person and once on game camera. I did put one of the cameras pointing at that tree to see if anything came back by, but that rarely works after the fact so probably won't see anything.

It could be a rub mark.
I looked up buck rubs and they can look that way for sure. But, if I have a big buck in my front yard that close to the house, that's something I want to get on game cam! I've never seen anything other than a spike buck or one just a tad older on my property, though I see them all over the county just driving here. Saw two together about to cross the road we live off of in broad daylight. I always wonder how they avoid my cameras.

Wow that’s good news.

Yes, finally! Some days, it seems nothing goes right. Naked Cora is growing feathers quickly and will have to get her weight back. Brandy is gorgeous, hefty and finally laying eggs again regularly. Wendy continues to be a witch to everyone.
This is where Wendy roosts at night, on the 2" princess bar. She can't seem to get along with anyone. And June sleeps in her coke crate throne every night. Jane has taken to sleeping near her since she is tormented by Wendy and Zara. Jane needs to gain weight, too, since her molt is over.
Also snapped pics of Atlas's group, plus Georgie who will be 11 in February and Tiny the Terrorist and Emily, who will be 10 at the same time. Tiny is laying, an egg every two or three days now. I have eggs coming from my older hens, but not my younger ones much other than Maddie, Jane's sister, and Brandy.
