The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Oh, now I want those chicken sloggers - too cute. I watched a video that was supposed to show how to pick your size and it never discussed anything like that. I know you would have to try on it person but, probably need win the lottery to pay for them. The yellow chicken ones were so cheerful.

I think this is a single barred male, but what barring on him!! Has pink wattles and will turn 6 weeks in a couple of days.

And the DelaRock male that will have to be rehomed I guess, if anyone wants him. I'm pretty sure he has the dwarf gene from a few clues but whether he'd be considered an actual dwarf, I don't know. He's definitely larger than little teeny Rocky. He sure has the bright yellow legs that Delaware breeders covet!

I was trying to get him to stand up and stand still. Lost cause, lol.

And Maretta's crew.

Cynthia - how do you ever tell them apart?

I guess you mean the BRs. My friend Ellie always said she was amazed I could tell all my BR hens apart. Even Dottie and Dru, who are mother and daughter and very similar, have slightly different shaped eyes and comb.

The obvious cockerel in Maretta's group is easy. He has bright white barring and that pink comb and wattles. The two supposed pullets are different sizes and have different size head spots, though those are fading now. The larger one is friendly and the smaller one is a drama queen screamer, LOL. The other barred one is with Aimee. His barring is "blacker" like a pullet but super sharp. I've never seen a single barred male like that. He's also very long-legged.

EE/Welsummer should be a good looking bird! Hatches are always exciting no matter how many times you do it.
