The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Hope things go well for you. Are your doctor's OK with you being around the chickens during chemo?

Cyn, I would probably make sure she got some good quality live culture yogurt at least once a day. Probiotics can take a while to work.

Can you suggest any place along I-75 in Georgia to get some good Pecans?

1muttsfan, we have 2 indoor cats, and the chickens. I knew that the last time I went through chemo, I was not allowed to clean the litter box, so my husband took over that job. Yesterday, I told my oncologist about both sets of animals. No, I am not allowed to clean the litter box, but she has no problem with me being around the chickens, and/or keeping the coop cleaned up. Apparently some types of animals pose higher risks than others.

No, not really. I am rarely on I-75, haven't been over the past 20 years much. Sorry! I'll give her some today by herself.

Oh, yeah, cat litter, not something you should be around. Thankfully, Finn is 100% outdoor potty guy, though I don't have any immune system issues that would be a problem if he wasn't. I remember doing litter box duty as a child when we had cats, but I don't want to do that now.

Happy you are in home stretch on the coop! Look forward to the pictures.

ETA: Mary, I made eggs with cayenne, turmeric, minced garlic and a lot of plain yogurt in it for Lizzie and let her eat by herself until she backed away from it. I'll try to make sure she gets some regularly for awhile to see if it helps. She and Tessa, who has all her feathers but is very thin still, both need a boost. Liz is still not her full weight after her big molt. It takes them so long to get that back.

Bonnie's chicks are turning three weeks old on Sunday. Of the two BR chicks, one is about the size of a one week old. They both still appear to be cockerels. I'm betting that one belongs to Athena. See what I mean?

And Mr. Hector with Thea (L) and Jill. Jill's comb is like that from battles with Rowena. Thea bullies Ro while Ro bullies Jill.

And Aimee, doing what Aimee does, being hyper. I was afraid she might actually fall into the feeder tube and become wedged in there, so we had to put a screen across it, which only makes it easier for her to perch up there.

The chicks are sooooo cute! The old adage is "There's one in every crowd". Aimee is your one.

Oh, yeah, she's my "one", all right! She is a bundle of energy. She came close to flying out of the pen the other day, hit the netting that covers about 3/4 of that pen. She runs back and forth at the fence when her group is out and she sees me. She reminds me of one of those carnival shooting gallery ducks, back and forth and back and forth. She is still laying, but so far, no broody signs. Love that hen. She, Carly and Penny will be 6 years old, along with my remaining two original Stukel hens, Maretta the EE, and Gloria Jean the splash Rock, on April 6.

You know it may not be a great day when you wake up with a crashing headache. Then, you sit down with your fresh cup of coffee, hoping the caffeine will chase it away and the left lens of your computer glasses drops into your coffee. SMH.

ETA: Found out this afternoon that my son got his new dog a new lady friend. The first one was going to the pound, a male, so he took that one-I think I posted about it. And now, he got a white shepherd female a few years old that he said was showing signs of food aggression. Why he got TWO dogs, or really even one, with their schedule, is beyond me.
