The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I just wanted to say something positive this evening. Over the last three days, two ladies purchased, between them, four of my quilts (one queen, one large lap, a small child's "wubbie" quilt and a hand quilted table runner) to a profit of $500, after shipping cost. Well, profit may be a strong word when you count all the cost and labor, but still... those purchases will pay for a decent chunk of the small solar generator and two 100w panels I just bought today. The small-but-powerful generator was already on sale, plus got extras with it, plus another 20% off the total, and no tax and free shipping. The review of the product as well as the company's customer service are excellent.

Anyway, the point is that I can at least help pay for some of our first foray into solar backup systems, which we've wanted for a very long time now. I hope I can sell a few more. My cabinet has a little room in it now, yippee! More quilts to come. I don't have to move yet to give them their own room.

I have been seeing all your beautiful quilts for sale on Facebook too, I'm glad others are appreciating them. Your runners are cool.

My mother made me one years ago but I could never bring myself to use it because my dogs get on my bed. It was too much work and beauty for dogs to be wrecking.

I've been liking whenever I see one on FB

Thanks to both of you. I'm just happy someone is loving them and they're not sitting in a cabinet anymore. I have three completed tops to quilt, then several in mind to do, but soon, will have to slow down for warm weather and garden season. But, as long as I'm on a roll, I'll ride the wave. Everyone seems to want a king size quilt and I'm a little hesitant that I can pull it off on my machine, but I set up two card tables as a "catch" table so the bulk of the quilt on the left side of the machine is not fighting me to fall off the table and I know that will help a lot. I'm off to bed, yawning too much to stay up any longer.

That’s awesome you’ve sold so many! I love seeing them all on FB. And I’m seriously interested in the spring/Star one, so just let me know how much so I can start setting aside some of my spending money. :)
Will do, but let's see how it turns out. Ill consider the figure and let you know, Kara. You have only the one little girl, right? I didn't know what the baby was, but I think I saw one lone little princess in your picture, if I recall.

you can put a fabric sleeve along the back of the quilt, insert a thick wooden rod, and hang it from a wall, keeps the dogs away and they make awesome wall hangings.

I do that quite a bit on my smaller pieces, like this:

I did that with the one my mom made me for many years, but it eventually was just a dust collector, and I took it down. Its a great way to display quilts which are works of art.

Well, you just take them down and give them a good shake outside. But, they are not the dust collectors that this beautiful piece of beadwork is! And it can't be damaged, or I sure won't risk it. The way I clean this is using one of those cans of air you use to blow out computers. Works like a charm. Could be used on a quilted wallhanging, too, I'd say.
