The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Look how happy the hens I gave to some relatives are!!

How the heck did they get out of that coop? He must have left power tools in there, LOL. Hope you're doing well. We're just really busy, trying to get the basics on the barn done so we can get on to the more fun stuff inside, building pens, covering up insulation with the wallboard, etc. I'm making things in my quilt studio to sell so busy, busy, busy.

You sound busy!!

Yup, keeps me out of trouble. I get crabby if I'm bored. So, I went out to take some photos of the pasture lot now that the seed mix is coming up nicely.

Took this from close to the back perimeter fence that divides the main property from the pasture lot. I think the barn trim ties in nicely with the house trim. You can see the grass creeping up the hill-that seeder sure threw it a long distance!

Appreciate the sentiment, though truly Merry it isn't. Building has a roof leak so a work order in to the barn folks to fix; of course, probably won't get it done until after the holidays and we're into another week-long monsoon. We fix the rain issue with water under the walls and the dang roof leaks on one end, sheesh. So, damp inside yet again. It will work out eventually, but it's like slogging through molasses, it seems like.
My D'Anver hen, Lucy, is still hanging on but barely. She still eats and drinks but we'll lose Miss Wrong Way Lucy soon.

A gift from Dottie--she's broody! I have a half dozen eggs from Atlas's group, not sure whose is whose except for one of her own I marked when she laid it. I may let her set these if she starts sticking to the nest; she's only been clucking for a couple of days. As long as I don't have to do the actual brooding work, I'm okay with winter babies. Dottie can keep them all warm enough, big gal, great mama.

Saw your fish on the Stella thread. You and the fish look great! Hope everyone has a nice, quiet holiday. We're just here watching the rain pour and I'm working on a quilt that has me buffaloed.

Good grief - if it isn't one thing, it's another! Is there any kind of guarantee on the building, or warranty? They should have to make good on that. It seems to me that it should be part of their delivery and erection service that the building be leveled so it doesn't twist and open up in places. That propping up of the corner worried me. Oh well - the good thing is you have time to recover from all the heavy labor you and your husband have been doing and be all ready to go when the leak is fixed. I hope that's the end of your structural problems.

The building is completely level. The corner being up is probably not an issue, the steel beams being as strong as they are.

The part that leaks is the very last part of the roof they did after two days of intense work. I realize they were exhausted and needed to get to the next job and were missing one worker (2 men supposed to be 3) and overall, I can't see much they did wrong or could have done better, dealing with the site they were working with, drat my mountain land. There is a warranty and we have a work order in, but the week long monsoon and holiday probably put their schedule back and no telling how long it will be until they get out here.
