My sister in law and her husband are staying with her husband's brother so they and their dogs are okay.

Congrats on Ole! Can't wait to see the photos of that big boy!

Today's events so far: Ida was out with her two chicks in the grass and began grunting and picking something up and beating on it. She was so forceful, I thought maybe she had a snake. When I investigated, it was something round, which at first, I thought was a big beetle. Then, I saw it was a dead baby turtle, completely dried up, about the size of a nickel.

DH had told me that June was very lethargic this morning so when I checked on her, she was hunched up at the back of the pen. Upon investigation, she had a small prolapse, again, straining to get out what is probably a collapsed shell. So, emergency treatment for June, PrepH to shrink tissues, got it back in, put her in a dark cage with a bowl of yogurt with a shot of calcium, Vitamin D and Vitamin E. Her crop was even a bit bloaty, another sign of a systemic problem. I think June's body is just malfunctioning because of her advanced age, perhaps this really is her downhill slide to the end. She is 8 years old, no idea what her genetics really are-she was hatched from a breeder who was trying to work on Salmon Ameraucanas so she probably has some hatchery blood in there. At least until this year, other than one bout of bumblefoot many years ago and an eye infection once, she has been in perfect health her entire life.

It is ALWAYS something with kids and animals.

You said a mouthful there! I was almost expecting her to do this again, though. She'd been on the nest a couple times in the last week, no egg, so I thought she was probably malfunctioning. And I moved the smaller dog cage into the barn because Caroline was in the wall cage yesterday and last night to limit her food and treat developing sour crop again due to her own pendulous crop issues. I had allowed Caroline to free range with her group prior to discovering June's polapse and was going to allow her to go back into her own group today, but when you have more than one hen with an issue and only one separation location, that just isn't a good situation. SO, the reason I decided to move Xander's pen door down to the other end from where I was originally going to place it has made itself clear, a corner location for one of the dog pens. Will get a photo so you can see what I mean.

ETA: By moving the proposed pen door closer to the human door, it set this corner up for this purpose:

Junie is resting in here, will check her later.

ETA: I took new photos for the ad for the two cockerels I'm trying to rehome.

A sign next to the building at the P.O. in Blue Ridge, telling folks not to go to the rear of the office said this:

WARNING
U.S. Property
No Trespassing
Violators Will
Be Prosecuted

SO, what's wrong with that wording?? I was laughing my head off when my husband pointed it out to me. I did take a picture with my phone but can't email it to myself to post the actual sign for you.

THAT must be why I thought my country left me! I thought I was on U.S. soil and all along, the U.S. is only that little area behind the Blue Ridge P.O.!! Where is the word "Government" in that sign?? Geez, Louise! C'mon, people! I sure hope it's U.S. property. I feel like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, "Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore!". I'm not sure where I am if the front of the P.O. and by inference, all except the back parking lot of that building is not U.S. property, but it sure would explain a few things that are making my head explode on a daily basis, HA!
