The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Sorry about your husband being in pain today. I've learned that telling a good man to "take it easy today" is as productive as spitting in the wind. My husband is like that too. He's going to do something around here, no matter how bad he may feel that day.

Sorry your husband isn't doing well today. I understand your dilemma. I love this place but know without my husband I can't stay here. Hopefully yours takes it easy today.

My cold is really kicking my butt, it's getting exhausting.

Good news is they got the doors on my shed.

Wow, that looks awesome! I'm sorry you're not feeling well, Lisa. Changing seasons are the worst time, I think, cold one minute, too warm the next. When it settles down and people can finally acclimate, I think they do better.

I'm doing another video, though I just did a couple, but I'm getting used to my video editor program and it helps to do projects. Seems dumb for them to sit in a folder after they're done, too.

That may be a "shed" to you but it looks like a barn to me! They're doing a really nice job!

Cynthia, I had recently sprayed my coop with permethrin. When I read your post about dusting your chickens with permethrin dust, I had to do some investigating. The only dust I had seen was either D.E., or Carbaryl (like in Sevin dust). Today when we went to the feed store, I began searching their shelves. It took awhile, but hidden away were a few bags of the product I wanted. In addition, I found it in this nifty applicator bottle too. It has a cap on it. I bought both. I don't know if the applicator bottle will do a good job, but I'm going to try it and see. I can refill it from the bag.

Yep, her shed is bigger than my so-called barn! I want real barns like on my grandfather's farm, seen in these old photos. He had several, plus equipment sheds, well house, smoke house, etc, etc. Lots of buildings on old farms. This one where my horse is had a hay loft where we always looked for the new kittens, same one as in the second picture.

This one was the cattle barn. To the right was the pig shed and pen.

And I found a picture of my pony and one of her foals. Those are about the only real memories I have of my childhood, ponies and playing outside in the neighborhood with older kids. This wasn't at the farm, but in our suburban backyard. Oooh, see the nosy neighbor! I never noticed that.

One of her last foals before Dad sold her. Gosh, my dad built that blue horse trailer in the background. When they were little, we'd take the foals in the back of the sedan, just took out the back seat and rolled down the window, LOL.

I looked at the video of your homestead (still haven't had the time to watch the others). The house reminds me of a house from a blog that I used to read that I haven't read in a long time. (chickens in the road- Suzanne McMinn) When I saw the slides I wondered if you had bought her house [they sold that one] but I believe you're in a different state. It was very similar in build but I think it would have been in much better shape than you found yours in when you bought it.

Thanks for the video! I so enjoy seeing how folks do their homes.

Wish I was in the mountains with such a beautiful view. Something I've wished for all my life. With a stream.
