My computer is driving me INSANE! I type and it doesn't type, it has to catch up. And I cannot correct it fast, it's so SLOOOOW. The fan runs all the time. We've cleaned it out, literally, plus done cleaning programs on the files, run malware programs, etc. My husband thinks I'm impatient, but it is making me scream and bang the desk. I can type an entire sentence and it takes 10 seconds before it pops up on screen for me to know if there is a mistake or not. And then, to go back and fix it is torture. He is a hunt-and-peck typist. I remember my typing class and I don't have to look at the keys to type as long as my keyboard is centered. Even my backspace is super slow. and my cursor disappears or turns into a bar. He is an electronic tech and has done all he knows to do for ti,but I'm ready to trash this thing.

Yup, multiple times. We've done everything we can think of several times. It still acts like it's slogging through molasses.

Maybe so. I got it after the fire, so it's only going on 5 years old. I do not want to pay $500 for a computer, but I do want one that is faster with more memory than mine has now. And it has to have a card reader built in, too. So, checking out Walmart's refurbished ones, where we've found great deals in the past.

Do you have any of the specs on it, so you can tell me what motherboard it has? You can probably upgrade, which would be a better investment.

All that you should have to upgrade, for now, would be the processor, ram, and hard drive.

The motherboard dictates how fast of a processor you can use, and the type of RAM. If you've used up about 3/4 of your hard drive, it can be slow like you've described, but to get a bigger hard drive, the processor, and ram have to be able to handle it. All I need to know are some of the specs, and I will provide you the information on the best, and most economical solution.

It has a one TB hard drive, pretty large, with an AMD A6 5600K dual-core processor, AMD Radeon HD 7540D Grahpics, 6GB DDR3 Memory and of course, DVD multi drive, HDMI, Wifi, media card reader.
