The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I personally will take a nice blizzard over this weather. It's the reason I live here. Just wish summer wasn't so skunky. Humidity in in the 60% today. I hate sweating. :sick

I guess i'm more of a spring/fall person. Today was 90's again with humidity. The chickens all hid under a tree. I gave them cold water twice. Several are in the coop standing in front of the fan, LOL. The 6 weekers stay under their fan. They do want to come out and play!

I don't like sweating but I guess 14 years in Florida taught me how to deal with most of it.

I loathe summer weather, not super fond of winter. I am a spring/fall person, too, Karen.

MaryJo is broody. Darn, bad timing, lady. Also, Thea is clucking some still, but not sitting. And Bonnie and Cora, the Brahmas, are still getting thrown off the nest several times a day, stealing eggs every chance they get. They wait until someone lays then they move to that nest to sit on the egg. Driving me crazy, the lot of them. It's too hot for this insanity.

My iron starting burning itself up, crackling and smelling like the electronics were about to catch fire so that one died. Glad I was sitting a few feet away and smelled that. I pulled out the last one I had and remembered why I bought the last one. This one will not produce steam. So, two irons in the trash and bought another one last night, a Shark. I love my Shark vacuum so let's see if a Shark lasts longer than Black & Decker and Rival. Have to have an iron for quilting. Karen gets it! It was only $29.95. I hate spending $50 or more on an iron, but if this one doesn't last, I may have to up my game, maybe research which ones last longer.

Spring and fall are often too wet here. The perfect days for me are few and far between. I'm becoming more of a house person lately where I can control my temperature.

I still got my iron from my wedding shower 32 years ago. It's nearly brand new and I never use it, but keep it just in case. :) I remember ironing everything. It was a soothing activity.

I had some quality time with my 11 yr old polish, Princess fluffy britches. She keeps looking like she's nodding off then her head comes up again. She's started to do it left and right as well. She looks like she looks around, dozes off then "wakes" up. This goes on all day aside from finding food and water by memory. I love this girl.

Anyway I picked her up and sat with her cradled in my arms and she found a spot to rest her head/neck by placing her beak into my arm. Then she laid her head on my arm. And napped. I could cry in advance of her demise. She keeps her weight, and actually learned that if she keeps pecking the ground, eventually she gets a piece of grass to eat.

Iron? Can't quilt properly without one! I always think about those pioneer women in those wagon trains sewing their pieces of old material together at night with poor eyesight, poor lighting, and tired and sore traveling in a wagon. No iron, no sewing machine. And they did it!

Cynthia, you are entitled to the best darn iron you want! It's nice having the right tools.

I hope the Shark will last. It feels like a quality iron, substantial, heavier than the last two but more compact. So far, I like it pretty well.

Spend as much time with your sweet Polish girl as you can. I used to do that with Gypsy, though she was pretty spry up until the last couple of days of her life. I knew her days were limited at almost 11 1/2 years old. I miss her so much, I almost think I see her sometimes.

Thought you'd like this picture of my son on the way back from getting Sophie's shots, an annual trial since she is very skittish with strangers and BIG. Such a beautiful girl. I guess he left Ghost at home, too much dog to handle when one is freaking out.
