The Expecting Chick Momma Thread

Hello,

I ordered 12 day old chicks from MPC and their hatching day is June 24th. My husband and I are building an 8 x 12 chicken coop which took me weeks of research to decide which one to build. I plan on getting 2 or more guineas as well.
This is what I ordered:
  1. Australorp
  2. Blue Andalusian
  3. Ameraucana
  4. Buff Orpington
  5. Barred Plymouth Rock
  6. Buff Polish
  7. Sicilian Buttercup
  8. Dominique
  9. Sultan
  10. Columbian Laced Wyandotte
  11. Golden Laced Wyandotte
  12. Silver Laced Wyandotte

Should be fun with so many different breeds! I can't wait and I am nervous about shipping day since I have read mixed reviews about MPCs.

I got my "ÿour chicks have shipped" e-mail at 10:00 this morning! I am hoping to get a call at 6 a.m. from the post office. I happily plugged in my brooder and am heading to bed in a few minutes. I will say a prayer for six healthy chicks. I am going to be obsessing all day tomorrow if I don't get them. It will be a very unproductive day!

Having trouble sleeping due to my excitment! My tracking number still says they are in Ohio. I was told to tracking number may not be updated very frequently. I'm lost between nervousness and excitement right now!

Aproximately 6 hours until they should be reaching out local post office! :celebrate

Wow, danegal2, love the variety! I am raising 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 (not buff) and used to have a Dominique. She was a very pretty bird and even though I didn't hand raise her, she would come over to me and stand in my lap for a while. And my Easter Egger is by far my friendliest pullet. Can't wait for her to start laying!
You'll have to keep us updated on how your chickies turn out when they are grown. :)

And to everyone else who's getting chicks in the mail this week/tomorrow... Doesn't it feel like Christmas Eve when you were a kid???

starlingdaly it is just like that! Only with the added nervous excitement of not knowing exactly when Christmas will arrive:) I've been checking my tracking obsessively and very nervous that I can't get a call through to my PO to give them the heads up. I'm a worrier anyway so this is making me a bit batty!

I've been checking the tracking info every 10 minutes all day! My parents keep laughing at me. My chicks were only 45 minutes away from me at 7:30am, and they sent them like 50 minutes away from me to another post office! The tracking status says that they are currently on their way to their destination. That was about 45 minutes ago, so they should be at our post office any minute! :celebrate

I hope your chicks arrive safely and quickly for you too AmbersatChick!

2 cuckoo Maran babies and 2 bantams :)

I did finally get through to the PO and they said they would call as soon as they got there. I'm thinking they may not arrive until tomorrow since the day is creeping away. This morning they went through a town about 4 hours away. Inching ever closer! I love that we can look at tracking but it may be a curse!:)

Adorable babies MayDayMel!
