I've actually thought that Mellie looked like she was compact as well. I'm very interested to watch as she grows up. She almost looks like how a child would draw a little chicken. Smooth lines and all.
She does look like a real life cartoon chicken!!

Also I suppose I won't end up posting the 2 week photos since they're almost 3 weeks now... and I'm a little lazy haha
Yesterday we discovered Chickie loves to sleep on her back with her legs stretched all the way out. Nooooo idea why, but she was purring up a storm and falling asleep instantly. When I picked her up she kinda stretched out and I thought it was cute so I laid her on her back so I could pet her soft tummy and she just instantly fell asleep! Now I'm not sure if Chickie is a bird or a cat...

Sooo cute! Where will you put the remaining hen, though?

A friend of mine suffered a raccoon attack this winter and is looking to add to her flock. So she will be taking the other hen when the time comes. I have promised to help her integrate that hen into her flock.

See now sean those are the pics everyone wants to see Chickie sleeping on her back would be awesome. although I have to say it would be a little freaky since usually only see chicks like that when they have died in the night. I'm not sure how healthy it is to have them on their backs. seems I heard someone say it was not good. I still do it with roos who are being rotten not to harm them but as a punishment while I carry them around. I could be wrong might have to look for that tonight and see. as their tummies are where all the soft feathers are.

All I have are videos and I don't want any face/voice reveals so maybe I'll try and take a screen shot. It was definitely very freaky looking but when my five year old brother started shouting she jumped right up out of my hands and was totally normal. Probably not super good for them but she seemed to enjoy herself considering how quickly she fell asleep & how hard she began to purr. She was even making those cute little trilling noises chicks do when they're cuddling.

yeah. before i had them life was... well, it was hard to get motivated enough to do anything. but now i see them and i see my future in the farming industry through them and they just give me a whole new view on life. i give them the best life i can and they improve mine every single day.

Nothing makes your life more worth living than caring for others be they other humans or animals. That is the secret to a meaningful life.
