Are they all supposed to be silkies? I notice Minaj has no extra toes and no fuzzy feets. I don't think s/he is a silkie and therefore having a visible non silkieish comb doesn't make him her a roo yet. Hens also challenge and such some if it seems to be play but they also practice setting up the pecking order. My silkies combs (both of my sikies turned out to be roos) were very slow to develope a comb and when they did it was a dark purplish wad that looks for all the world like somebody put their purple bubble gum on thier head. They are also charaterized by a dark blue purplish hue to their skin. So just saying ya may not have all silkies

They’re Silkied Easter Eggers!
Ok I musta got confuzeled. I'd say the jury is still out on the genders though still. But I am by far a novice here. I can't wait to see what they look like. I have a couple orscheln bantam easter eggers in my latest batch. I may want to breed them to my silkies if they are b-u-t-ful :p

Hard to see with the red, but that’s the puppy pile. Usually one chick sleeps farther away from the pile, it’s not always Clementine (like it is in this photo.)

Also, Chickie Minaj has been having very large, wet, and smelly poops. All the other chicks are having solid poops that are a little damp but not completely just splat like Chickie’s. No poop photos.

Oh my gosh that was so hard to type without interrupting myself— Chickie Minaj (speak of the devil) figured out how to dust bathe and decided she MUST do it RIGHT NOW and broke up the pile. Clementine is still dead asleep, though she did get startled when Chickie flicked some bedding onto everyone. Since they’re awake, everyone has promptly decide its time for a food fest. They prefer to eat the food they throw all over the floor than what’s in their actual bedding. Whatever keeps them entertained, I suppose.

My Hobbitses omg that cracks me up I’ll check to see if we have lincoln logs but we definitely have big old branches laying around. My gals, even though they’re perfectly spread when awake, always sleep that way too. To combat the warmth of each other they all spread their legs and wings as if they’re tanning on a hot sunny day in the beach.

I need to see z photo of that. Lol

Two questions for y’all)

Chickie Minaj has been having very wet smelly poops, but I’ve seen her drink and eat and peep and just generally be a normal chick. Are her poops normal though? Why are they so wet??

Although my chicks love cuddling, they always run away when someone tries to initially pick them up out of the brooder. I try to talk to them quietly and let them see my hand is in the brooder before I try to pick them up, but they always run away. Do you think if I start presenting little treats while I put my hand in, they’ll be less likely to run away? (As soon as we’ve caught them they don’t run, they just explore wherever we put them and snuggle right up to us.) I also usually try to scoop them from underneath instead of grabbing them from above cause I think maybe they believe I’m an airborne predator?? No idea. TLDR: How do I get my chicks to stop running away from me when I try to pick them up?

I don't think you will or Not without lots and lots of time spent. I have never gotten any of mine to. But in the intrest of their sanity I do start talking to them as I am coming up to the room and then being a crazy chicken guy I pretty much talk to them non stop best thing I have found is slow even movement and the soothing words. I can often pick up birds my wife is having problems with simply by moving slowly and talking nice, they startle easy dontcha know
