The Fricken Chicken story!

My poor Owlly got taken by either coon or coyote today. Had a great day, until I heard the ruckus of my flock and my dog barking. I can't wait for my fence to be up for my dogs. So I can leave the chicken in with them during the day. Its joyful to free range, but can be awful sad too.

I gave my hen Rori 3 eggs to hatch. She has desperately been wanting to hatch a clutch. Owlly laid me one today, so hopefully it goes the full 21 days. All I had available for other eggs was one from Blondie and Ruby, so they are under her too!😔😔

Oh my gosh I got distracted and did not read all the way through. I'm so sorry for your loss. I barely met her and I'm sad. 😥

:hugs :hugs :hugs

My sweet Rori, doing what she does best. She is a great mother hen. TBH she is just a great hen in general! :love I'll probably pull the chicks as they hatch, so I can watch them grow. By that time, my basement will be empty of babies anyways. In a couple days, I'll candle the eggs and post some pictures!

Rori enjoying some ear scratches. She is so happy that she has eggs now! She has been brooding the empty nest for well over a month.

LF Cochin chick
I'm really looking forward to this chick growing up. I got it from a friend who breeds cochin, and langshan. Im actually waiting on her next hatch to get a couple langshan from her (probably some more cochin too)!!🥰🥰 So far nothing screams rooster to me. So let's hope for a pullet!

Anyone want to help name this cutie?

Falkor
My big beautiful EE boy. We started off butting heads, when he first come here... He like to sneak up from behind and spur me. We get along now.. For the most part.. :lau He has earned his right to live out his days with me. I've seen him fight of racoons, hawks, and he saved his GF Goldie from a coyote. He is an excellent protector, and throws the most stunning hatches. He is also great with the young chicks.

Sounds like he's earning his keep as a protector! He's a handsome guy.

Gmork: I'm on the fence with Gmork, roughly 5 or 6 month. Im not entirely sure if I should expect a crow or an egg. Gmork is a sweet chicken none the less!

Turtle: Turtle is a pretty cool little showgirl! I named it Turtle, because of the neck. Very laid back, acts like a hen to me. Again... I could be wrong. 🤷‍♀️😂 My Turtle Bird

This is what happens when I try to get a picture with my Turtle bird...

Groot: I am almost certain, Groot is going to crow.. Groot is about the same age as Turtle, 6 to 8 weeks. With waddled and a lumpy bumpy comb growing in already. I give it a couple more weeks and he will be singing the song of his people!!🐓🐓🐓
