PUPPIES!!!!!!!! puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,puppies,

need more pictures!!!!!!!

We had a broody that wouldn’t quit sitting on a golfball so the husband felt sorry for her and gave her an egg. I took it away and gave her two red dorking eggs and they both hatched yesterday. I love broodies with babies!!!! I think maybe a boy and a girl based on the head markings. So friggin cute! I swear I am never using an incubator ever again.

We have another broody and the husband said I should go ahead and give her two eggs, too. I wish my Chocolate orps were old enough to lay. They are the ones I want more of! They are so cute and round!

but I will give her some more red dorking eggs, I guess. those and the barnevelders are the only ones I know are purebred athis point.

Haa Haa when we lived in California before I retired I used to have a job where I could dress up and I had all the great shoes, Jimmy Choo, Prada, Loubitans ,I can't even remember them all, I sold them on e-bay and used the money to buy chickens, coops, Etc. DH always asks don't you like the chickens better anyway?

Um sure you NEED more breeds of chickens you. Know air, food, water, fire, shelter, chickens.
I know! We have been selling lots of stuff to get more chicken stuff. We have been pack rats and since moving into a smaller house more thing have to go, its been a long process but this weekend we get to get rid of more stuff in the garage. That means putting some of the kids old clothes and stuff on craigslist/ebay and donating the rest.
---love the puppies! We are going to try to add a livestock guardian next year- right now we just have buster the pygmy- he's not good for much but he is very grouchy!
Lots of work ahead of us this weekend- got to get more outside coops built, get something for our turkeys, fence a new goat pasture, and most importantly fix all the guttering on the barn and clean out our drain in the barn that is stopped up. Anyone want to come help?

My chocolate orps are apparently great mommies. They are sharing a nest of shipped eggs and they make sure they are on the nest at all times. My coronation that I let set on 2 eggs gave up yesterday and started sitting outside of the nest and left the eggs all alone. I had a swedish flower hen that had been broody but, we had to move them to a new pen last night due to their pen was getting flooded and when we moved her and her eggs she decided she didn't want to sit on them anymore either.

We have snakes. I know WHY we have snakes. We have snakes because we have frogs. Thousands of frogs. When I walk around after dark I am wading through throngs of them. If the zombie apocalypse ever happens, I don’t have to worry about what to feed the chickens…they will go on an all protein diet of fricasseed frogs. We can go out at night and catch them in nets. It’ll be fine. Why do we have frogs? We are in the bend of a “run” (read: larger than a stream, smaller than a river) and I think because of the bend, we have the perfect breeding ground for them. So we will have frogs. And snakes.

But anyway: Back to the snakes: we killed yet another copperhead last night 10 feet from my front door (!!!) after a close encounter with one of our dogs. I usually have no problems with snakes, but poisonous ones around my dogs are not good. I think the dog is unbitten, couldn't find anything in a cursory exam. my mom was bitten by a copperhead once and spent months with her foot raised above heart level and not able to go to work or do anything besides lay there while her leg turned black.

And all those people that claim that blacksnakes wont abide a copperhead in their territory are delusional. We have them, too.
