The Front Porch Swing

Oh, that makes perfect sense! Like an awning!
Yes!!!! gold star for you...exactly...an awning! with a long front. made out of netting.

And the front net that goes down over the front of the raised bed weighted down with a 1x2 and I can throw it over the hinged top and then fold the thing up against the fence.

I cant find my dang camera. I have even had the husband looking for it. so frustrating. I really really want it, too because the tiny eggs in the bird's nest under the deck have hatched...there are five tiny little gaping mouths. I need my camera!

Oh, and I have a couple of white crested black polish that were getting picked on...the meanies pulled out all their head feathers like a tonsure. so I finally caught them (fast little buggers) and sprayed them with blue coat. now they look like little rock stars with purple and white hair!!!! too funny.

I had that problem. I got some braces rubberbands and pulled all the topknot feathers that were left around the edges up into a ponytail. They covered the bald and bloody patch on top of the roosters head. I gave that roo away, it was a few bricks shy of a load. It would fly up to the roost, walk over to the closest hen and put his head down for her to peck him. He also liked to attack my shoes.

Well back from our churches 4th of July picnic and now to try and finish my chicken tractor.
Chicken tractor, as in for meaties? Mine work great! I am sooooo glad my Freedom Ranger cockerels are going to the processor tomorrow.........they are crowing and sparring at 9 1/2 weeks.....definitely time to go! The pullets will be going on the 11th so still moving one tractor for the next couple of weeks, but less ruckus!
Here is a picture taken today........back porch on the left.......one tractor with the pullets showing.... back end of other tractor to the far right....ignore the Icelandic hams in the foreground

I will try that! LOL at least on the one that still has SOME feathers. the other one has some on the front and some on the back but none on the sides...LOL. I wonder who I know that has a kid in braces...

Ask your dentist for some. I found the easiest way to do it was to wrap the band around a pair of small needle nose pliers, gather and twist the feathers, grab them from the top with the pliers, then roll the band down over them. I wraped him in a towel so he couldn't move, but two people would be nuch easier.

Out of 4 Jubilee orps from GFF- 3 are roos and 1 hen. I was really hoping that I had a hen that was "maturing" fast but, this morning all 3 were crowing. Well... at least I know now that I should be expecting one layer soon. They are 5 months old.
