The Front Porch Swing

We had an ugly incident at work yesterday that I just cant get over.

One woman, who has a tendency to be a bit of a loose cannon basicly cornered the sweetest girl we have and asked some very pointed questions of a racial nature stemming from a football player that I know nothing about but who evidently got into trouble over his language? she kept insisting on sprinkling the “N” word thoughout, which I feel is expressly verboten in modern polite converstaion.

I am trying not to get detailed but my panic alarms went up and I think I rushed in to help but due to my inexact mastery of the human language in a crisis, I may not have been seen to have been as helpful as I intended. I tried deflect anyway with an anecdote to suggest it would be best to stop talking about the subject in question. The attacker was actually stopped dead by the insersion of a clueless boss into the situation (just asking for some product, not knowing what was going on) and the poor attacked girl fled. I followed her to see if she was okay and to express my concerns that the whole subject was completely unfortunate and nothing she should have ever had to deal with, and the woman followed to continue the conversation!!! and kept saying the "N" word. Rightly, one of our other coworkers related said inappropriate discussion to the big boss who has now suspended the one girl for being an idiot and we have to all sign affadavits on what we heard and said.

I almost feel gulty because it looks like they will be asking her to leave in a pretty strong way and she’s someone who always sorta made me nervous anyway. Chaos personified... a "you-give-an-inch-she-takes-a-mile" type that it will be a bit of a relief not to have to worry about any more. She was a constant boundary pusher and it made me uncomfortable. Losing her job will probably make her lose her house (and she has 5 kids) I am feelling guilty about being relieved.

And all night long, I am laying in bed thinking where I could have kept this train from derailing, but I always think of the perfect thing to say 30 minutes after it would have been useful

You have NOTHING to feel quilty about. She did it to herself.

I understand psy. When I was a manager we had to fire someone for stealing money ( actually for drugs even) it was a con job she got and early emergency pay extension and then convinced someone at our pay company she didn't get her check.

I kept thinking about her baby because she had started to leave her 2 year old in the car. And was starting to act high at work.

It was one of those situations there was no good solution. I still think about her baby.

And krazy... No COFFEE??? Do you do tea? I'm shocked and appalled. Not that tea is not acceptable but I could not imagine life without coffee.

Don't stress over it. Sounds like she is they type that would have gotten fired eventually. You can't act that way on a job. What you think, say and do is your own personal business when you are not on someones dollar. With all the Paula Deen Stuff going on she should know not to use that language. I wouldn't stress over it at all- yes, I will feel sorry for the kids but, come on... you don't do stupid stuff that will get you fired when you have responsibilities.

Chiqita, Krazy is crazy! But we still love her!

Psyanky, it's not your fault. I know ever since the Zimmerman trial we are seeing more and more on both sides of the color grid. People are just angry for whatever reason and latching onto any excuse to vent. It's neither your fault or your responsibility to worry about her children, but shows what a good person you are for doing it.

TBC I might have to start swapping some baked goods. PS your extra turkey eggs make the best muffins and coffee cakes. We love our Eva and we love her eggs!

OK nor for something weird! Ever seen this?
