Blooie, I'm so sorry to read about the assault on the kids, I know I sound like an old fart when I say it didn't used to be this bad. Makes me crazy.
Update is getting better every day. Pain is less than the day before, I'm hoping at one week I'll be able to sleep on my side again. I know I'm having a fairly easy time of it compared to some of the folks. I actually got teased a bit by a few people who didn't think I needed the surgery because I'm a "lightweight" meaning I need to lose less than 100 lbs. when I was walking the hallway in the hospital with some of the other folks who were larger, I'm glad I didn't wait until I was no longer a lightweight. You could hear them in their rooms being sick. I promise after this surgery that is NO fun. I've done it once as a result of taking pain meds and I won't do it again!
I went to the doc the first time when I was 217 at 5'3". This morning I was at 204. I'm still struggling a little bit to get 60 grams of protein and 60 oz go water every day. I've found the tomato soup protein drink does not sit well in my tummy any more. I'm on liquids until July 30. I'll keep everyone up to date.. Thanks for the support.![]()
Is greek yogurt considered a liquid? It's high in protein.
the liquid diet is temporary to allow the stomach to heal. since the surgery I've logged July 11, 260 calories 61 grams of protein, Sat July 12 370 calories and 79 grams of protein, Sun 448 cal 74 g protein. The protein is key as that is what helps your body heal. The 60 ounces of liquid a day is to prevent dehydration. That part is critical for me as i already have low grade kidney disease. All of my little incisions are now pain free, it is just the large one where they took the stomach out that is still painful when I first stand up and I cannot lie on my side yet. :|
the good news is I can use up the broccoli and some collards from the garden in the soup.
