The Front Porch Swing

Good morning! For those ladies of the Porch who are having chocolate cravings, like TW and myself, I've made a big pot of mocha coffee...heaping spoonfuls of cocoa powder, plenty of sugar and some frothy rich milk.

My Whippet dog, Portia, goes everywhere but church and client homes with me, so I'd better introduce her to the Pooches of the Porch :)

I think a few of us are.... I Write prose and Short stories and Science fiction. I write alot when I get on a roll.

That's so cool! I didn't know you were a writer! I could never attempt Science fiction...I have neither the imagination nor the attention to detail that genre requires. Comparatively, what I'm writing is easier - girl meets boy, boy and girl try not to like each other, boy and girl end up together anyway. Yup, easy as that! When I get going, nothing else exists - I'm at the computer until my hiney falls asleep, then I just get up, move around, and repeat. I also do short stories and I write a political column for our newspaper. (Notice how well I keep politics OFF the Porch and in my column where it belongs? There are places for political discussions - this ain't one of them, thank goodness!) Senator Mike Enzi has used my columns on the floor of the US Senate on several occasions, and each time he does he has them entered into the official Congressional Record. When I finally met him at a "meet and greet", he threw his arm over my shoulder and said, "You're my HERO!" So I told him I was going to have little cards printed up that say, "Speechwriter for Senator Mike Enzi." He thought that was so funny!
Good Morning Everyone!!!

I had family in from Indiana yesterday, so I was gone for a while.

Welcome newcomers! I see you have met the gang. Aren't they wonderful??? I noticed that nobody has warned you about Blooie's stories. Do not have food or drink in your mouth when reading AND have kleenexes nearby. She is a hoot!

We have all kinds of critters running around. The beautiful horse over yonder is Katee. She belongs to 'Perchiegirl/Deb'. The dogs are Boots, Jake, Ben, and Ben. As far as I know the turtle doesn't have a name.

Come sit a while and tell us all about yourself!

Lisa :)
Welcome back, Lisa!! We missed you! (Um, pssst...was Lisa gone?)

And good morning everyone!! I think to day is the magic day! Nothing as exciting as preparing for a hatch, but I think we're going to get the stuff to make the run for the girls (and Charlie) today. I have a town council meeting tonight, so we'll have to work fast to get up to Billings, back home, and at least get a start at it.

Can Miss Molly come up on the Porch and play with all the other critters? She's a bit of a sceerdy cat, but she's gentle and she's such a Ken's baby! This is how they take their afternoon naps. She's not allowed on the furniture, but she pushes the envelope!

We have crossed the 500 pages mark with this thread. :D

No, I have no idea where to get a water wiggler. I do have a digital meat thermometer through a hole and I trust that one most of all. I also have a "remote" thermometor that I used the last time that worked real well. And there is another thermometer with the doodad to read the humidity. I hope it all comes together.
I haven't finished, but could you just put a cup of water in the incubator and then put the thermometer in there? That would give a more steady temperature likely (unless its the thermometer that is funky). Also, more mass would work well to stabilize any temperature fluctuations. glass beads, rocks, bucket of water, moist litter, large rock... all those things should help stabilize the temperature. Good luck! It mus be really frustrating! at least if you figure out how to stabilize it you will know for next time!

If you don't mind me asking, what day are you on with your hatch?  what kinda incubator are you using?

I am on day17 ans am using a little giant still air. Our temp in our house fluctuates bad so I thought in a corner in the middle of the house would be better. I'm praying it goes ok. I would be devastated.

Evening folks
