Attention deficit disorder. That doesn't mean he craves attention. That means that his brain neurons are firing so fast that his attention span only lasts a certain amount of time. With Patrick as a 3 yr ol, his was about 6 seconds. It's better now but not much. I could start a sentence and by the 6th word his eyes would glaze over and he was thinking of something else. That's why his learning was so late. Twelve in 3 wks and he's terrified of people , outside bugs, loud crowds etc. He has to get on the bus everyday and go to class. That's why he has a grown helper to sit by him and show him things other people have picked in one sentence. Writes like a five yr old. When he comes to see me and watches TV, he starts a new movie every 5 mins. Heartbreaking. No idea what he will do later in life.

My step-son doesn't get distracted by things around him so much, it's more his own mind that gets him
