The Front Porch Swing

So today my BB Boy (Beautiful Baby Boy, what I called him when he was a baby) turned 10. Can not believe how fleeting time is! God has really blessed me with a very caring and wonderful child, I thank him everyday for him

Happy Birthday Huston!!!!

It stinks but I have too many birds to know all of them as pets. I feel worse for them than me. They love to free range and now they can't ... Also when the raccoons come to stare at the chicken through the hardware cloth just before dawn the birds freak ... I hate to see them so upset.

If I had better hands and eyes I'd go get a gun right now. I can't believe the coyote came here for Lunch! It was 1 pm. Middle of the day. I could put a chicken in a cage in the middle of a field and wait.
That is very brazen for a coyote to come the middle of the day. It must have really been hungry. I have a Great Pyrenees and an Australian Shepherd who guard the chickens and run off predators, including hawks. Neighbors have seen coyotes, but we haven't. We do find dead and mortally wounded possums....usually in the yard. I had to finish off the last one.

I've got a missing White Rock......but I am afraid that she has laid a clutch somewhere and is incubating. I will look for her and keep an eye out because if she is setting, she will have to come out and eat. Hopefully nothing got her.

Tonight I am crossing fingers and praying for a barn cat. White barn cat who was born in this barn before we even bought the property. I called her Marshmallow. I poured out kibble morning and night and she never missed a meal. Well she missed both today and I searched but saw no sight if her. She was a great one for sunbathing with chickens. I think I have a pic. Anyway, hopefully she will show up in the morning. I hate coyotes.

I'd love both hot wire fencing and barking guard dogs to tear critters apart.

Gust is a companion animal ... he is great at that. He knew something was happening outside, but as soon as we ran out there he started eating chicken poop instead of barking.
