You guys are too sweet.

I'm always torn about barn cats. I know they would be safer indoors, and the wild bird population better off too. But these two white ones, brother and sister, were born in this barn, almost feral. I caught them, neutered them, vaccinated and wormed them, then decided to let them free back in the barn. Still feel worried when coyotes howl and sad when we get those nasty winter storms, but they eat mice and enjoy the sunshine.

Life is always some sort of compromise between risk and joy I guess. I got this Facebook message this morning that said: Fear doesn't prevent death. Fear prevents life. Which I think I should get tattooed or put on a sampler or something. Being the generation in between samplers and tattoos I'll just try to remember it.

I'd love both hot wire fencing and barking guard dogs to tear critters apart.

Gust is a companion animal ... he is great at that. He knew something was happening outside, but as soon as we ran out there he started eating chicken poop instead of barking.

NOTHIN better than chicken poop, [except maybe CAT poop! That's what MY dog says anyhow. And she is an expert !

EASTER BUNNIES!!!!

Dogs found these for me. Not sure which is the Easter bunny so brought them both home.
Yes, the dog killed two, and tore up the nest so I had no choice.

So, I missed a day and finally caught up. Not as bad as some days, but still took a while. So, here I go

1. WATER TANKS - We had a blue, plastic round kiddie pool for our Irish Setter back in WI, because it was so hot and humid. When we moved to wonderful Wyoming, I knew after the first storm that a plastic kiddie pool was not going to work. I could imagine it rolling down the prairie to Nebraska ... - so we bought a sheep tank! Galvanized metal tank, 4'x2'x12" tall, so our old lab could get in and out OK if she wanted to. He loved his Wyoming pool, it was deeper than his kiddie pool. He loved to splash in it. I have a really cute video of him with his pool, but I don't know how to insert video here. Can I load one from my hard-drive?

2. Welcome to the newbies. Congrats on the new hatchlings.

3. I don't think I have ever eaten a beet. I made roasted asparagus for supper tonight. My first time roasting it and it was pretty good.

4. Here is an easter pic for y'all - some eggs that I dyed a couple of years ago with "natural colors", I used some old stuff in the freezer to make the dyes - the blue ones were blueberries, yellow was turmeric, red was raspberries and the orange/purple/green were double dipped. It was something I saw on-line and had to try it.
You have to download the video to YouTub theyhave the tools for that as well as the ability to up load from there. The account is free but you do have to open an account.

Oh, they are so cute! It is awful when our pets hurt other critters, especially ones that don't kill chickens or cause any other harm. However, I'm so glad you were able to save those babies! They are young, too, so you could probably raise them up yourself and they'd be pretty tame.

Quote: Yes, he LOVED it!!!! Mom loved hers also, still have not given my daughter or grandma theirs! Thank you so much
